I don’t know what took me so long, but I finally created an Instagram account for Top Hat Sasquatch. Instagram is my favoritist social network ever and I’ve been taking plenty of geeky photos on there for a couple years now. I figured it was time to set up an official THS account so I wouldn’t have to worry about my non-geek followers’ lack of interest in TMNT and action figures. Also, it’s a great way to find people with common interests, so hopefully it will bring some new readers over.

I think Instagram will be a fun place to host some contests for the site, too. A few months ago I posted a shot of a cartoon-inspired t-shirt I was wearing and asked people to guess the reference, and it spontaneously turned into this fun little game. I want to do that officially every once in a while and include some prizes. Also, it would be fun to do contests where you would have to post a photo and tag the site, and then I can post a gallery of entries here after it’s over. But trust me, there will be plenty of dorky pictures of toys too.

Hey there! You may have noticed that some things changed around here. I’m currently messing around with a revamped design and trying to make the site a bit more modern. Hopefully you’ll find the reading experience a lot better with this version. I’m still neck-deep in the code so there are still plenty of things that aren’t perfect yet, but I wanted to launch it early and get some feedback.

In preparation for more editorial-style posts, I’ve made images, captions, quotes, and all that kind of stuff a lot prettier. The site is also retina-ready for the first time, so if you’re browsing from a newer iPhone, iPad, or Retina Macbook, everything will look a little sharper.

Admittedly, I haven’t even tested the site in Internet Explorer yet, and I probably won’t. IE 9 should display everything just fine, and if Google doesn’t support IE 8 and below, I don’t think I should have to either.

Hi there! Sorry for the lack of posts over the holidays, but things got a little Cray-Cray in my neck of the woods. I got the Flu From Hell™ right before Christmas, and then Indianapolis was slammed with a blizzard [obligatory cute dog pic] on the 26th, which really doesn’t effect my ability to post here but I like using the word blizzard as an excuse for things.

This was a one-big-gift-instead-of-lots-of-little-ones kind of year, because I scored an iPad Mini. I’ll be writing more about it later, but I finally feel like I can get into reading comics again now thanks to this little device. I’ve tried reading comics on my wife’s iPad, but wasn’t too crazy about the weight and size, so the Mini is perfect for me.

I’ve caught up on the entire IDW TMNT series and I love it. Besides Comixology, I downloaded Comic Zeal Reader to handle all the digitally acquired CBR/CBZ files I had on my computer. Now I have a few GBs of comics that should last me quite a while.

The iPad Mini is an awesome gaming device too. I have a ton of games on my iPhone but now I think I’ll do most of my gaming on the Mini and reserve my phone for more phone-type things.

Besides that I got a cool little LEGO set from the new Galaxy Squad line that I’ll post in the next few days. I still have a stack of books to review for the site too.

I have high hopes for 2013 here on the ‘squatch, so I think it will be a fun year!
