TMNT

The League of Extraordinary Bloggers
This post is part of The League of Extraordinary Bloggers, a weekly series of blog posts started by Brian over at Cool and Collected. Make sure to check out his site and join in the conversation if you run a blog!

Brian had the cool idea to switch things up a bit this week with The League and have everyone toot their own horns talking about the State of the Site. I’ll make this brief, because I’m not that far from my 500th post where I talked a lot about the site, but I wanted to join in. If nothing else, it gives me the chance to use that GIF I made a while back.

Etsy Roundup: TMNT Edition

Etsy Roundup

Etsy is an interesting place. I go there and search every once in a while but I think I’ve only bought things a couple times. Out of curiosity today I searched for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to see what popped up, and what follows are some of the coolest items I found.

Some people seem to confuse Etsy with eBay, so I didn’t include anything like vintage clothes, action figures, or things that weren’t made by someone (or at least upcycled). These are all things I would buy if I felt like dropping money on more TMNT stuff for my collection.

Shredder Cozy

Shredder Cup Cozy by SmakJamCreations

Knitted things and crocheted things pop in to my mind first when I think of Etsy, so how appropriate that I found this adorable cup cozy featuring the Turtles’ arch-nemesis, The Shredder. There’s a lot to love about this, and when else will you get to use Shredder and cozy in the same sentence?

Halloween

It’s that time of year! The mighty month of October is upon us, and that means hoodie weather, pumpkins, Reese’s Pumpkins, an excuse to sit out your old McDonald’s pails, and of course Halloween countdowns on all your favorite blogs.

I love Halloween as much as the next blogger, but I won’t be posting a Halloween countdown this year and thought I’d let you know why, as well as fill you in on what sites I’m checking every day this season. So, Y U No post a countdown you say?

Geek Eats: Wreck-It Ralph Nesquik

Nesquik
I’ve got a secret that I’m not sure I should confess.

OK, OK. I will. This will be a rather short story if I don’t share. Here goes… Manufacturers, if you make special packaging for your product in a cool, 8-bit design there’s a 99% chance I will buy it. I’m such a fan of old school video game design that I’ll fork over all kinds of money for your product if it features cool pixel art. Yes, I mean it. Any product. I’ll even buy a box of Tampax tampons once they make the wise choice to switch to 8-bit packaging.

NestlĂ© has somehow learned this deep, dark secret of mine. I recently fell victim while perusing the aisles of my local supermarket. There’s where I saw their Wreck-It Ralph commemorative packaging for Nesquik chocolate drink powder. They had turned their iconic Nesquik bunny and logo into eye-catching video game designs. There were three different package designs, each with a different scene from Wreck-It Ralph. I snapped up my favorite of the three.

Presidential Madden: The First Quarter

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the First Quarter of Presidential Madden, where I’ll explain the tenures and personalities of our first fifteen American Presidents. I hope you all enjoy reading it, but remember: no debates or arguing! All of the things I have presented below are not subject to interpretation, as they are all literal fact, in many cases shot in real time, one take, one camera.

Take a look at the Welcome Post to get a refresher on the Ratings used for each President.

George Washington

George Washington

Virginia, Unaligned, 1789-1797
Vox: The booming laugh of two boulders colliding together to form Mount Rushmore

George Washington, our first President, is difficult to assign ratings too due mostly to the legend surrounding him. All signs say that he was an efficient, task-oriented leader, a tall handsome man with a rugged physique, and above all, a figurehead for a fledgling nation in need of a sort of invincible figure to don the ceremonial Stars-and-Stripes armor of the U.S. and whip that vibranium shield around some. In war, Washington was absolutely unfuckwithable, (I did not make this word up; you shouldn’t end sentences or clauses with prepositions) single-handedly killing a number of men I cannot legally or mathematically declare in this essay. In peace, whenever he wanted to have sex with something, it generally wanted to have sex with him back, and I think that is the finest testament to this American hero.
