The League of Extraordinary Bloggers
This post is part of The League of Extraordinary Bloggers, a weekly series of blog posts started by Brian over at Cool and Collected. Make sure to check out his site and join in the conversation if you run a blog!

Brian had the cool idea to switch things up a bit this week with The League and have everyone toot their own horns talking about the State of the Site. I’ll make this brief, because I’m not that far from my 500th post where I talked a lot about the site, but I wanted to join in. If nothing else, it gives me the chance to use that GIF I made a while back.

So, How Goes It?

There’s still a lot I’ve been meaning to do around here, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve had a month-or-longer stretch without posts, so that’s a plus. In the early days of Saturday Morning Central/Top Hat Sasquatch that would happen pretty often.

I’ve been having fun writing about toys more, but I still want to start making videos. I have a ton of ideas, I just need to take the time to get them done. One that I hope will happen very soon is a trip to Kokomo Toys & Collectibles, an awesome locally-owned toy store about forty minutes north of Indianapolis. I want to get up there, buy some toys, and interview the owners.

A big update was that a couple months ago I made the first Top Hat Sasquatch shirts and they turned out nicely. I still have a few left if you didn’t pick one up, too!

About a month ago I added a new author to the site, my friend from high school John Risley. He’s an insanely funny guy and talented writer, and I hope to have him post here a lot more in the future.

The Future

Our Bubble Pipe Theater podcast hasn’t had any traction for a few months, but I hope to get it going again soon. In the meantime, I’m starting a new podcast that is going to be a little more focused, and just recorded the first episode with Shawn of Branded in the 80s and Jaime of ShezCrafti.

Even though I don’t participate in The League as often as I’d like, I love all the friends I’ve made and new blogs I’ve discovered through it, and I look forward to keeping that going.

A year from now if I’m still posting regularly and having fun, I’ll be a happy camper.

Oh wow, now there’s a podcast not to be missed!

I’ve heard of kokomo Toys all the way over here on the east coast, so it has a reputation. I can’t wait to get a report from the ‘Squatch!

Hope to be able to participate in future podcasts. Look forward to hearing all three of your thoughts on new TMNT!

  • Any excuse to use a TMNT GIF = a good one. Seriously though, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how much I love this site, but I will anyway. And just so there’s no awkwardness, I’ll direct my affections directly at The Squatch himself, who presides over all this geekiness from up there in the site’s header with his dapper top hat blowing bubbles for all eternity: I LOVE YOU, MAN.

    • Hah, if only the blowing of his bubbles was animated!
