Cool Stuff: Carry Your Guitar like Captain America

Whipping Post Guitar Case

Fellow guitar players: are you worried about how you’ll carry your 6-string come Halloween when you’re sporting your best Captain America: The First Avenger costume? I know I am. Luckily Whipping Post Leather has us covered.

Their line of leather guitar cases are insanely expensive and remind me of the the upcoming leather-and-pouch-covered superhero film. The case above retails for $825, but it doesn’t look like a hard case. That’s a lot of dough for the equivalent of a fancy gig bag.

Get Crafty With This Angry Birds Crochet Pattern

Angry Birds

As someone who pushes pixels all day, I’ve grown to appreciate folks who can actually make physical objects with their own hands. How’s that work? Etsy has no shortage of awesome geek gear, and this Angry Birds Crochet Pattern is no exception.

My sister pointed this out, which is appropriate since she made me these awesome crocheted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Christmas. It’s amazing seeing Angry Birds making the leap from our iPhone screens to the real world with all the shirts, toys and games coming out lately.

What should be the next bit of Angry Birds merchandising? Undies?

Indianapolis Superhero Museum Auction

Superhero Auction

Good news, rich folk. The short lived Indianapolis Superhero Museum will be auctioning off all it’s memorabilia this week on January 22nd. The museum, which was closed before I ever even found out about it, was mainly filled with Superman and Batman collectibles. Some of the rarer items up for auction include costumes from the 50’s show The Adventures of Superman, a costume actually worn by Christopher Reeve, and even one from Lois and Clark.

This was supposedly the second largest Superman collection in the world. My guess is that the Super Museum in Metropolis, Illinois holds top honors.

You can read more about the auction at Antique Helper and view a ton of photos of at Auction Zip. I’ll gladly be accepting donations of any goods purchased if you get horrible buyers remorse after realizing you just bought a set of tights worn by Dean Cain.

Every year we’re going to take a look back at the best Christmas posts from days of old. Hold on to your top hat, grab your robe, and get kidnapped by this year’s Ghost of Christmas Past.

By the way, like the new mascot illustration? That was done by our very own John Justice. Expect to see that guy around here a lot more.

A Muppet Family Christmas
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

Everyone here at Top Hat Sasquatch hopes you have a wonderful December 25th no matter what your traditions are. This has been a great holiday and a huge year for the site, but I’m looking forward to some very big things in 2011. So, spend some quality time with your family, eat some great food, play some games, and watch your favorite movies or television specials.

If you’re like me and can’t even peel yourself away from the computer on Christmas, look up some classic holiday specials on YouTube, there’s a lot there. If you’ve never seen A Muppet Family Christmas, you should watch it, it’s one of my favorites.

We’ll get back to our normal posting schedule on Monday. Have a great weekend!
