LEGO Collectible Minifgures Series 10

Minifigures Series 10

Even though I’m a couple series behind now, I love the LEGO Collectable Minifigures. I think I have the first 6 or 7 series complete, but lately they’ve been coming out faster than I can find them. I’m not very patient with blind-boxed toys at all, but luckily there are some sellers on eBay that offer complete series for not a whole lot more than retail. Especially when you factor in all the duplicates you’d probably end up with if you bought them at the store, paying $50-60 for a complete series isn’t a bad deal. (I recommend Minifigures Plus on eBay)

I love what LEGO is doing with these series and although we haven’t gotten a Sasquatch minifig yet, they are coming out with some amazing figures. Just look at the old man, paintball player, sea captain, and Medusa in series 10. Awesome. Not to mention the Gold Minifigure totally looks like the living statue from Hot Fuzz.

I hope LEGO keeps coming out with these series because among all the licensed LEGO themes now (as cool as those are), it’s nice to see something awesome and original coming out of the company again.

Cool Stuff: LEGO Ghostbusters HQ by Orion Pax

LEGO Ghostbusters

Another day, another awesome LEGO creation by Orion Pax. A while back I posted his amazing TMNT Party Wagon, and now he’s touched on another of my favorite pop culture icons, Ghostbusters.

Orion has created the Ghostbusters firehouse headquarters in the style of the LEGO modular buildings, and he’s done a crazy-good job of it. It’s beautiful from the outside alone, but once you take a look at the level of detail in the interiors you realize how great it really is.

Ghostbusters Kitchen

That’s just nuts. Head over to his site to see even more of his amazing 3-story Ghostbusters HQ (complete with Ecto 1). This guy’s LEGO powers seem a little unnatural. I love how he uses all the new pieces like the wood panels and food and makes them look better than anything LEGO has even come out with.

They need to hire this guy and get him designing sets.

Yet Another Awesome LEGO Party Wagon

partywagon

The LEGO Shellraiser set is cool and all, but ever since I saw the first retro LEGO Party Wagon I’ve been dying to get an official set. The Turtles’ green and yellow van is my favorite pop culture vehicle and I’d love to have it immortalized in tiny plastic bricks. I don’t know if LEGO will ever come out with a retro line of TMNT sets, but in the meantime we can enjoy the work of talented builders like Orion Pax.

This is the second LEGO Party Wagon (first here) I’ve seen and frankly I want them both. I’d love to order kits to be able to build these myself. I don’t even own any of the TMNT LEGO sets yet but knowing I could have a Party Wagon to put my Turtles in would probably be all the incentive I needed to finally buy them.

Excelsior! LEGO Marvel Superhero Videogame Coming Soon

LEGO Marvel Superheros

Ever since LEGO announced they had the Marvel license, the whole world has been clamoring for a LEGO Marvel Superheros video game. Luckily for us, it’s coming, and it’s coming relatively soon. Come fall 2013 you’ll be able to waste hours and hours collecting studs as a whole slew of Marvel characters. Yes please.

There’s just something about what Traveller’s Tales has done with these games. Not every one is great, but some are really awesome. I don’t even want to know how many hours I’ve spent playing LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

To hold you over, TT has released a trailer on YouTube.

LEGO Palace Cinema is Awesome, Only Seats Six

As if LEGO Hobbits, Super Heroes, Minecraft, and Back to the Future wasn’t enough to drain your bank account, the newest set in the high-end Creator series is the Palace Cinema, and it’s awesome. I love the marquee and I hope the letters can be easily changed, because I’ve got lots of movies to screen for my minifigures.

This LEGO movie theater fits with the other modular buildings, like the Town Hall I got in July and have only completed the first floor of. These sets are really fun (and hard) to assemble, but there really aren’t any other LEGO products like them. They’re top notch. Here are some more photos:
