Attack of the Authors

Our good friends over at DK Publishing just sent word of their new “Attack of the Authors” East Coast Tour to support the new book Star Wars: Battles for the Galaxy that comes out on April 18th.

You can find a pretty good preview of the book at the DK UK site, but we’ll have an early review sometime soon. Like most cool events, their tour isn’t coming close to me, but hopefully some of you are in their path and can report back with some photos. I should let them know that their logo for the event clearly includes Indiana, but I’ll let them off the hook.

Here are the details straight from DK:

(Almost) Shirt of the Day: It’s Dangerous to Go Alone

It's Dangerous to Go Alone by kerTrek

Everyone loves a good mash-up. You make two great things exponentially greater by combining them. Especially when those two things are Star Wars and Zelda.

That’s what Deviantart member kerTrek did with this fabulous design. Luke and Obi-wan star in this 8-bit graphic creation along with the iconic line from the original Legend of Zelda game.

The only problem with this design is that it’s not officially a shirt yet. kerTrek has submitted it to TeeFury so we’ll have to wait for its eventual release. It’s our only hope.

Cool Stuff: Geeky Peg People

Ghostbusters Peg People

I bet a lot of you played with Fisher Price Little People when you were tiny. They’ve been around for decades, and even thought they were plastic by the time I played with them, I always loved the older, wooden Little People.

That’s the vibe I get from RandomlyGenerated’s Etsy store, although instead of dogs, cowboys, and generic folks, the peg people are characters from our favorite pieces of geek culture. The Ghostbusters are definitely my favorite, although there aren’t any TMNT Peg People on there yet so that could change.

Check out the rest after the jump.

Fan Documentary ‘Star Wars Begins’ Represents Four Years of Hard Work

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

Super fan Jambe Davdar recently completed work on his film documentary of Star Wars: A New Hope. His “Star Wars Begins” combines numerous sources for a comprehensive look inside the landmark 1977 film. The project he calls “the ultimate audio/visual commentary” took nearly four years to complete.

Oddly enough, this is the third Star Wars-based documentary produced by Davdar. The filmmaker previously created “Building Empire” and “Returning to Jedi” about the final two movies in the original trilogy. The new production can be found in 14 parts on YouTube. A downloadable DVD image for each documentary can be had, provided you know where to look. (*Cough* Bit Torrent *cough*.)

I previously watched Davdar’s “Building Empire” and I can’t wait to spend some time with “Star Wars Begins.” His Pop-Up Video style of presenting information over the existing film is a great way to learn more about George Lucas’ creation. He also intercuts alternate angles, rare footage, and various interviews for a compelling presentation.
