Cool Stuff: Captain America Reebok Shoes

Marvel Reeboks

Whenever real life intrudes on my blogging time like it did last week (yay for funerals!), I always come back home to an email inbox full of starred items from my RSS feeds, favorite tweets, and URLs to check out. Last week I found all kinds of awesome stuff online, but these new Marvel Reebok shoes may take the cake.

Marvel is collaborating with Reebok on a whole line of shoes inspired by their comic characters. Sneakers inspired by Wolverine, Sabertooth, Spider-man, Deadpool, Black Widow, and my favorite, Captain America, are going to be coming out sometime soon and will no doubt be very expensive.

Most of them are ugly as sin, but being a sucker for Reebok classics and primary colors, I think I’m going to seriously keep an eye out for the Captain America shoes.

You can check out SlashFilm for more photos, and hopefully we’ll find out more details like release date and pricing sometime soon.

Silent Film Parody of ‘The Avengers’

Posted 8 years ago by Movies, Videos

You gotta hurry and watch this silent film parody of the mega popular film The Avengers. Don’t hesitate as it includes actual footage of the film surely acquired by illegal means. In other words, it’s inevitable that YouTube will yank it from the site citing Marvel’s copyright.

But if you haven’t yet seen Joss Whedon’s super superhero movie, do not watch this video. It spoils one of the most enjoyable scenes from the film. It’s a scene so good that you absolutely do not want it tarnished.

The video was apparently produced by R3Load, a site promising “daily online refreshments.” They’ve also distilled Whedon’s two-plus-hour movie down to a campy, 4-minute silent film. But this follow-up is a lot less satisfying.

Marvel Super Heroes Get ‘Disassembled’ in Hilarious New Cartoon

I love Marvel Comics characters with every ounce of my being. But that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to a little parody. This animated short by Junaid Chundrigar is a damn-near-perfect send-up of all the classic Marvel characters.

After you’ve watched — and thoroughly enjoyed — this little cartoon, check out his site at Imajunation.com. This Netherlands native is a very talented guy.

Oh, and just like the big screen films, stick around for a short little bonus scene after the video’s credits.

LEGO Review: Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown

Wolverine on his Bike

After months of talking and talking about the prospect of Marvel LEGO sets, they’re finally here. The first sets officially come out on April 8th, but I was lucky enough to snag a couple on Walmart.com a week or so ago before they were quickly sold out. I got two of the cheaper sets, 6865: Captain America’s Avenging Cycle and the set I’m reviewing today, 6866: Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown.

The Lowdown

In addition to all the awesome Avengers LEGO sets coming out, LEGO is starting a X-Men line with the release of this Wolverine set, and honestly, it’s going to be a hard set to top. At $20, the value for LEGO/Marvel geeks is insane. Not only do you get a pretty awesome-looking helicopter, but you get almost perfect minifigure versions of Wolverine, Magneto, and…Deadpool. Are you kidding me? Deadpool exists in LEGO form, and was one of the first Marvel characters to be released?

Tim and Tommy are always up for talking Lego, and this week they have a lot to talk about. 2012 is a huge year for the toy company, with Marvel Super Heroes, Lord of the Rings, Dino, Friends, and Monster Hunter lines debuting, alongside additional sets in all the classic series. Throw in a few more of the collectible minifigures and you’ve got a great year to be obsessed with LEGO.
