‘Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume Two’ Blu-ray Review

Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 2

I’m a huge geek for animated shorts, and my fanboyism is pretty evenly split between classic Disney and Warner Bros. cartoons. For some reason though I always held off on buying Looney Tunes on DVD. I guess I had unconciously decided that I couldn’t afford to buy Disney Treasures sets and all the Looney Tunes DVDs at the same time.

Now I’m really glad I never did because WB has been releasing Looney Tunes on Blu-ray and they look awesome and come packed with bonus features for animation nerds like me. I picked up the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume 1 a while back when it came out, and WB was kind enough to send a review copy of Volume 2, and it’s just as awesome.

Saturday Morning Central #1 – Blame it on the Kraang

Saturday Morning Central #1

Remember when the site used to be called Saturday Morning Central? Well, I couldn’t let that name die forever, and I finally found a new use for it. A podcast! While Bubble Pipe Theater is on hiatus, I thought it would be fun to start up a new show and try to get a bunch of my blogging buddies on board.

Saturday Morning Central is going to be a show for people like us; children of the 80s and 90s. Ok, so technically children of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but I mean people who did the majority of their growing up in the 80s and 90s. You know who you are.

In the first episode, I’m joined by bloggers Jaime Hood of ShezCrafti and Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s, and we geek out about the new Nickelodeon TMNT show. We talk about the style, the voice actors, nostalgia for the 80s cartoon, Milli Vanilli, and much more.

This Unofficial LEGO Party Wagon is the Coolest Thing I’ve Seen All Week

LEGO Party Wagon

On the heels of LEGO’s official TMNT announcement (complete with a Shellraiser van set), EuroBricks user LegoJalex has released photos of his retro TMNT Party Wagon LEGO set, and it is amazing. I never would have thought the Party Wagon would translate so well into brick form, but it did. With the help of some decals, LegoJalex created the perfect vehicle to carry your LEGO Ninja Turtles around in after they come out next year.

If we could only get our hands on some instructions and a parts list, I’m sure a lot of TMNT geeks would be rushing to the LEGO Store to get all the supplies needed to build this one.

He totally gets bonus points for building a mini ‘toy’ version for his minifigures to play with.

Check out more photos over at EuroBricks.

Missing Links

The Top Hat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Sequel: Casting Harry Osborn
Wow, Paul Dano is a brilliant choice to play the new Harry Osborn, but I’m sure it’ll end up being some young whipper-snapper that I’ve never heard of.

Frankenweenie is ‘good Tim Burton’, which as it turns out still exists
I still need to see Frankenweenie, and this write-up from Ultra Culture makes me want to see it even more. I'm glad 'Good Time Burton' is back.

Yet another reason why I love Gravity Falls – Boing Boing
I'm too lazy to crack ciphers, but this is one of the reasons I love this show too.

Adventure Time‘s Genderswapped Universe Is Getting Its Own Comic Series by Natasha Allegri!
Fiona and Cake, the comic book? Awesome.

Blue Sky to produce Charlie Brown feature | Cartoon Brew
So glad to see the Peanuts going with an animation company like Blue Sky instead of Dreamworks. It sounds like these characters are in the right hands. I hope they don't look too weird in CG though.

Website Launched For ‘Monsters University,’ The College | /Film
This is awesome. I can't wait for Monsters University, and as a web designer I would have loved to work on this project. Pixar launched a fake website for the college Mike and Sully will be attending in the upcoming sequel. Heads up, you can actually order the merchandise.

The League of Extraordinary Bloggers
This post is part of The League of Extraordinary Bloggers, a weekly series of blog posts started by Brian over at Cool and Collected. Make sure to check out his site and join in the conversation if you run a blog!

Brian had the cool idea to switch things up a bit this week with The League and have everyone toot their own horns talking about the State of the Site. I’ll make this brief, because I’m not that far from my 500th post where I talked a lot about the site, but I wanted to join in. If nothing else, it gives me the chance to use that GIF I made a while back.
