Ask ‘Squatch: “What’s the worst Land Before Time movie?”

Ask 'Squatch

Over the years there has been some pretty random and wacky stuff published here on Top Hat Sasquatch, and as a result, we get some really funny search queries pop up in our analytics that lead people to the site. It’s funny how many people form their searches as questions, and it got me thinking. What if I picked out the best ones every so often and treated it like a reader mailbag? The result is a new series: Ask ‘Squatch.

I’ll try to use the exact searches as often as I can, but sometimes if we get a really good one I may just form it into a question or something. Trust me though, I’ve got a big list of really funny ones. Because of my dumb 10 Worst Dinosaur Movies of the 90s post, a lot of them are about dinosaur movies. Go figure.

We’re kicking off the series with one that doesn’t sound as wacky as some of the others, but when you think about why someone would be looking for this information, it’s kind of hilarious.

What is the worst Land Before Time movie?

Cool Stuff: James Boorman’s ‘Faces of the Universe’ Print

Posted 7 years ago by Art

Faces of the Universe

I know I don’t give Masters of the Universe enough love around here, mainly because it (along with Thundercats) was just a couple years before my time and I feel like I missed the boat on being nostalgic about the toys and cartoons. Still, this art print by James Boorman is awesome, and I’m sure you all who grew up with the show will appreciate it.

I’ve been following James on Instagram and seeing his progress on his Faces of the Universe print, and I love his style. Check out his site to see the finished product, as well as a lot of other really great art.

James said he’s looking into setting up an online shop soon, so key your eyes on his Twitter and Instagram feeds so you can snag a MOTU print of your own. Also, he’s got some pretty cool TMNT faces on his site too, so hopefully we’ll see that as a print sometime soon.

Remaining Top Hat Sasquatch Shirts on Sale

shirts

Heads up! I’m about out of shirts from the first run and so I’m discounting the rest to get rid of them. Eventually I’m going to order more, but the new ones will be on a different shirt, and probably not American Apparel. So, if you’re a size M-2X, you can still get in on the first batch of THS shirts for $12, plus $2 for shipping.

The shirts are super comfy and you get a bunch of goodies like stickers, a button, and some retro trading cards. The second batch of shirts probably won’t come with so much stuff either! I went ahead and set up a shop on the site because I have some plans to add a few more things down the road, and wanted to give it a test run.

Oh, and if you head over to THS’s Instagram feed you’ll find a coupon code you can use to get free shipping!

Genius Casting, Marvel! Chris Pratt is Star Lord in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Posted 7 years ago by Movies

Chris Pratt

I don’t post movie news/rumors as much as I used to around here, and I’m glad, because all the rumors of who was in the lead for Star Lord/Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy turned out wrong. I’ve got a Character Guide coming very soon for Guardians and I’ve been familiarizing myself with the characters more lately, and I think Chris Pratt was a great choice.

From what I’ve heard, Guardians is going to be a more funny and unique Marvel movie, and Pratt can do funny and serious very well. I saw him in Moneyball before I even started watching Parks and Recreation and since then he’s been in a ton of stuff, including the awesome Zero Dark Thirty.

I think the rest of the casting news for this movie will be pretty interesting too. Not many people in the general movie-going world have heard of Guardians and they’re going to have to try a little harder to bring people in. Having Iron Man cameo would help, and I’m sure having Jim Carrey and/or Adam Sandler would help bring people in too.

This makes me want Aziz Ansari as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.

How much do you want to bet we’ll see Peter Quill pop up in a short post-credits teaser in one of the movies coming soon?

How To Jailbreak Your iPad Mini (or other iOS 6 Device) and Install Emulators

Posted 7 years ago by Tech

SNES on iPad Mini

If there’s one thing the Internet is great for, it’s benefiting from other people’s hard work. If you’re wondering what kind of car to get, which dog breed would be best for your tiny apartment, or what the worst Land Before Time Movie is (actual search query that led someone here), chances are at least a bzillion people have wrote about their experiences online.

When news broke about iOS 6 being jailbroken yesterday, I didn’t pay much attention to the headlines. I toyed around with Jailbreaking a few years ago when I had an old-school iPhone 3G, but since then iOS has improved so much I haven’t felt the need. Until I realized I could play retro games on my new iPad Mini, that is.

I don’t much like the idea of messing with my phone when it’s the device that I need to be able to use to call 911 and order pizzas and such. But now I have a second iOS device that isn’t a phone and when I started thinking about playing Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and NES games on it, I got a little giddy. So, I did some quick research, found plenty of other people who had figured out the hard stuff already, and now I have a jailbroken iPad Mini loaded with ROMs that I can pair with a Wiimote.

Hopefully by sharing my resources and explaining what I did I can help you out in case you’re even lazier than me, and perhaps feel like I’m contributing a little Karma to the web in some tiny way. Just remember, if you’re doing this to your phone, as of a few days ago it’s kind of illegal, but whatever. So is playing games via emulators.
