Shirt of the Day: Stick Stickly!

Stick Stickly

I had forgotten about the whole Shirt of the Day thing around here, but this new shirt from BustedTees is so awesome it could very well be the shirt of the year (for me anyway). If you grew up in the 90s and watched Nickelodeon, you remember Stick Stickly. He was the little popsicle stick mascot the network used in bumpers and promotions for Nick in the Afternoon, and he had a pretty catchy jingle.

BustedTees captured the essence (and the jingle) perfectly in their new shirt, and I’m going to order one right away, because I never wrote in to Stick Stickly when I was a kid and I’m filled with shame.

Shirt of the Day: Vote Rogers & Stark 2012

2012 Rogers Stark

Geeky shirts are everywhere these days. I don’t post as many on the site as I used to, but every once in a while I can’t resist. That’s definitely the case with this political-inspired shirt over at Redbubble. I’m sure a lot more people my age would get behind an election if the two running mates were Avengers.

I’ve never bought anything from Redbubble (mainly because the prices seem so high) so I can’t vouch for quality, but this shirt is pretty awesome and I may pick it up.

Shirt of the Day: Halfling and Wizard

Halfling and Wizard

Calvin and Hobbes mashups are becoming quite the rage these days. Bill Watterson’s classic comic strip has such a great art style and lends itself so well to depictions of Pop Culture bromance. This shirt entitled Halfling and Wizard went up for sale today on Threadless, and it’s probably my favorite Calvin and Hobbes mashup yet. Frodo looks so cute in Watterson’s style, as does everyone’s favorite wizard, Gandalf.

This kind of makes me want to see a Empire-inspired, Luke and Yoda in the style of Calvin and Hobbes, but I don’t know how cute Yoda would look as Calvin. Maybe Cool Johnny can tackle that one next.

You can buy the shirt at Threadless and a tiny bit will come back to us, letting us buy toys and goof off and such.

(Almost) Shirt of the Day: Avenger Time

As I’ve said before, I love a good mash-up. This Threadless submission by Steven Lefcourt is another brilliant example. He combined the two most iconic of Marvel’s Avengers with Finn and Jake from Pendleton Ward’s animated series Adventure Time. The character cross-over is brilliant but title combination makes it almost a magical mix. (The inclusion of Mjolnir in the title graphic is an extra special touch.)

Shirt of the Day: Horton Hears a Doctor

I’ve said before that I’m kind of over the clever pop culture mash-up shirts that have become the default design for most t-shirt sites. And while the latest Ript Apparel shirt definitely falls into that category, I can’t help but dig this design. I think it’s because it’s not just Mario dressed in a Stormtrooper outfit or Kermit the Frog hulking out.

This shirt’s subtle. It says so much without requiring a big flashy headline or obvious play on a character’s catch phrase. Any time you have to think about a t-shirt before you get it, that makes it a success in my book.

Head on over to Ript and pick up your own for only $10. But hurry – it’ll be gone tomorrow at 12:00 Central!
