The First Easter Rabbit DVD Review

Posted 10 years ago by Television

If you’re like me, you’ve always wondered where the Easter Bunny came from, and most who’s better to explain that to us than Burl Ives? Thats about what The First Easter Rabbit from Rankin/Bass Productions is, and thats fine by me.

I wasn’t around for the first airing of The First Easter Rabbit on TV, and I never remember seeing it in reruns, but I’m sure a lot of you remember it. Basically, it’s a short tale of a girl with a stuffed rabbit named Stuffy. A fairy decides that people need a symbol for Easter so they can remember when it is (no joke), so she turns Stuffy into The Easter Rabbit.

Tom and Jerry Greatest Chases Vol. 4 Review

Posted 10 years ago by Animated Shorts

It seems like every week I add more cartoons to my DVD collection. This time, it’s another great set of Tom and Jerry shorts! Warner Bros. has released another volume of the Tom and Jerry Greatest Chases, and this time around it has 14 classic cartoons featuring everyone’s favorite cat and mouse team this side of Itchy and Scratchy.

For around ten bucks you get 98 minutes of classic animated shorts, and the shorts speak for themselves. The presentation is what we’ve come to expect from these releases, but Tom and Jerry completists who don’t own the Spotlight sets (like me) will find Vol. 4 to be another great way to add a handful of classic shorts to your collection.

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown Review

Out on DVD today is You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown from Warner Bros. This Peanuts release is a little different from the recent ones from WB in that it is an animated adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name.

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is made up of sketches and musical numbers and is quite different than most Peanuts animated fare, but a little variety is nice. I played Charlie Brown in a production of the sequel to this musical once, called Snoopy so I was surprised to see that this even existed.

I Watched G-Force on Blu-ray

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

When G-Force came out in the theaters a while ago, I kept kidding my wife that we were going to go see it, whether she liked it or not. Well, that never happened, but I got the last laugh, because now we have it on Blu-ray.

How was it? It was exactly what I thought it would be. I laughed a lot, just maybe not for the reasons the filmmakers intended. I just wanted to watch some CG gerbils save the world.

It’s produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so you know the action is going to be great, and it stars the voices of Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, Jon Favreau, Penelope Cruz, Tracy Morgan, and Steve Buscemi. Oh, and Zak Galifianakis is in it too. What are you waiting for?
