I’ve always wanted a cool 12 inch Star Wars figure. It may have taken me over twenty years to finally get one, but the years of waiting paid off. Now I have a sweet 12 inch figure from Sideshow Collectibles of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a General in the Clone Wars.
This figure from Sideshow is insanely detailed, from the likeness of Ewan McGregor to the PVC clone armor.
More Tom and Jerry DVDs! Sometime I need to try and capture on video the typical reaction someone has to seeing my DVD collection. At first it looks like the collection of someone who has lots of kids to keep entertained…but we don’t have any kids yet. Basically, about 90% of our DVD and Blu-ray collection consists of cartoons, and when it comes to classic animation, I can’t get enough.
Thats why I’m excited to see more sets like these. Tom and Jerry’s Greatest Chases Volume 3 is the newest addition to my collection, and it contains 14 classic cartoons. They were originally released between 1941 to 1956, and include:
I was going to post my review of this earlier, but I had to watch it twice before I felt I could really describe how nice of a set this is. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition is of course the first time this film has been released in HD, and they did a surprisingly great job with the transfer. Considering that this film came out in 1937, I assumed the Blu-ray would look good but still show a lot of imperfections, just due to how old the masters are. I was wrong.
My wife and I fired this up one night and were blown away by how clear the movie is. By itself, the film is presented in the Fullscreen aspect ration that it was animated in, because Disney didn’t start animating in Widescreen until the 50s. However, they’ve added a cool feature called DisneyView where they fill the remaining sections of the frame with paintings by Toby Bluth. They fit in nicely with the style of the movie and aren’t distracting, so you won’t have to worry about burning in black bars on your expensive Plasma HDTV. This was first used on the Pinnochio Blu-ray that came out last spring.
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory has always been one of my favorite movies. I’ve seen it a million times, can quote a good portion of it, and have always loved the music. Oddly enough, I’ve never owned it until now. It was always a movie I caught whenever it was on TV, rented it on weekends, or watched it at my in-laws’ house. That’s not a bad thing though, because the new Blu-ray Book is by far the definitive version of the film to date.
Ever since I made the transition to Blu-ray about a year ago, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory has been a movie I’ve wanted in high definition very bad. I knew the colors and production design would pop off the screen, and I when I popped it in this week, I wasn’t disappointed.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is the latest DVD/Blu-ray in the DC Universe animated line, and it is bar far the best they have put out yet (in my opinion, but I haven’t seen Wonder Woman yet). Before I get too deep in the review, let me give you some perspective. I was a very mild comic fan growing up, mainly just reading Wizard magazine and the occasional comic. I had graphic novels and read most of the classics, but was/am in no way a comic authority. Although I’ve always loved the art of Ed McGuinness, I never got around to reading Public Enemies.
That being said, I freaking loved this movie. Warner Bros. was kind enough to send me a copy of the movie on Blu-ray to review, so that’s what I’ll be talking about, but if you’re still into regular DVDs, everything but the HD and a couple extra Justice League episodes will be the same for you.
