Top Hat Sasquatch

Last year I commissioned Cody from Crooked Ninja to make this awesome art based on the Pizza Points that came on the back of TMNT action figure cards. I had them made into vinyl stickers, but I’ve been dying to get Pizza Point shirts made. Rather than gambling real money on if enough people would be interested in buying these shirts, I decided to use a TeeSpring campaign to try and kickstart the idea.

If the minimum amount of orders gets met by April 6th, these shirts will get made and I will probably wear mine all the time. If you’re as nostalgic about the classic line of Playmates TMNT toys from the 80s and 90s, order one of these Pizza Points shirts and I’ll be eternally grateful!

I have a weird relationship with retro gaming. I enjoy having a few old consoles and a small collection of games, but I love seeing crazy huge retro gaming collections on Instagram and Reddit. Some people have insane gaming rooms with dozens of consoles hooked up to an old CRT television with numerous video switchers to make it all work. I enjoy the nostalgia of old game hardware (and the convenience of emulators), but really want to find a practical, usable way to enjoy retro games. The upcoming RetroN 5 from Hyperkin seems to be the perfect solution.

Over the past year or so I’ve (re)acquired the NES, SNES, and Genesis consoles. The NES I found needs to be repaired and I just haven’t gotten around to replacing the pin. The SNES works occasionally, and the Genesis works really well. I would still keep them if they were all completely bricked, just for the nostalgia of having them on a shelf. But, the RetroN 5 looks like it will be my go-to system for playing old games. This console can play games from these consoles:

I follow a ton of comic artists on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and via RSS. It’s not hyperbole to say that none of them entertains me more than Joey Ellis. For my money, Joey’s tremendous art and hilarious comic sense are without equal.

Money is what I gladly gave to his Leaky Timbers project on Kickstarter. Leaky Timbers is Joey’s hardcover comic book starring a trio of monster brothers led by Wolfie. They live in an apartment complex named Leaky Timbers.

If you grew up in the late 80s/early 90s, chances are you played Shaq-Fu, the horrible Sega Genesis and SNES game featuring Shaq doing kung-fu. Well, someone thought it was a good idea to make a sequel, and Shaq is hoping people will chip in $450,000 on IndieGoGo to get it made. If that’s not hilarious enough, check out some of the rewards. $500 will get Shaq to follow you on Instagram, while a grand will get him to follow you on Twitter. For $150 you can record a line that will be in the game (admittedly not a bad deal), and for $400 you can attend a launch party in New York.

One minute I’m checking out this cool post on Reddit featuring a high-res, textless version of the iconic poster for RoboCop, and the next thing I know I’m browsing a hundred-page thread on Blu-ray.com featuring even more textless poster art. If you follow THS on Instagram (and really, why wouldn’t you?) you know I have an office with walls full of geek art. I’m always looking for cool stuff to frame, and I’ve had a couple things printed just based on high-res art and photos I’ve found online.
