New TMNT Books Available on Amazon

New TMNT Books

The fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is about to become a hugely marketed property again is finally starting to sink in with me. Everyone loves the new action figures from Nickelodeon and Playmates, and what we’ve seen of the new cartoon looks promising, but I hadn’t even thought about all the other merchandise that is going to be hitting stores very soon.

I was trolling Amazon looking for new TMNT stuff today and found a ton of new kids books. Some are available now, and some say they will be released in January, but I bet they’ll become available a lot sooner than that. If me adding a bunch of coloring books, age 5 and up chapter books, and stickers to my cart isn’t evidence that I’m ready for Turtle Mania Volume II, I don’t know what is.

My wife and I don’t have any kids yet, but that might change in a couple years and that’s a good enough excuse for me to load up on kids TMNT books. Besides, the cover art looks pretty sweet, and who doesn’t enjoy coloring?

Jurassic Park Builder Review

Posted 8 years ago by Games

I’ve been such a bad gamer the past few months. I let my Xbox Live subscription expire, I haven’t even turned on a game console in four or five months, and now I rarely ever even play a game on my iPhone. I think I’ve been to preoccupied with work, blogging, and trolling ebay or something, but I need to get back into gaming.

Seeing the Jurassic Park logo pop up in the iOS App Store for a free game that has thousands of positive reviews was just the boost I needed. I’m a hardcore Jurassic Park fan, and I’ve at least tried almost ever JP video game that has ever been released, so I couldn’t pass this up. The game is called Jurassic Park Builder, and unsurprisingly it’s a game where you build your own Jurassic Park.

So is the game fun? Hold on to your butts and lets find out.

5 Actors That Shouldn’t Play Daredevil

Daredevil

Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I had a draft ready to publish today about Marvel working out a deal with Fox to get the rights to Galactus and Silver Surfer back from Fox, but my slowness paid off, because that turned out to be false. Fox is gearing up to reboot Fantastic Four, and it sounds like they want to hold on to those characters for that franchise, which makes sense. They don’t sound particularly thrilled about making the gritty, Frank Miller-esque Daredevil reboot that has been in the works for a while though, and might actually let the rights to that character revert back to Marvel.

This is cool for many reasons, the most obvious being Marvel could actually do this right. I don’t know how Daredevil would fit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but at least he would get a good director and cast. I was going to offer my suggestions on who should play Daredevil in the reboot, but as it turns out, I don’t keep up to speed on young, beefy actors and probably don’t know half the people who will be in the running for the character.

What I can do though is give you five actors that should definitely not play Daredevil in the upcoming reboot.

Cool Stuff: Pixel Art Top Hat Sasquatch by Tim Briscoe

Pixel Art Sasquatch

Our very own Tim Briscoe sent me this the other day, and my first thought was, Dang, I have to post that on the site! Tim has been getting into pixel art (something I wish I could do), and he chose our mascot as one of his first subjects and it turned out great. He even went ahead and created a pixel art version of our text logo too, which I might just drop in the header because I like it so much better.

I need to get some new business cards or postcards or stickers printed up with this guy on them, because everything is better when it has a pixel art version of itself.

Update:I just ordered some sweet stickers with this guy, and if you’re one of the people who snag a THS t-shirt you’ll get some.

Cool Stuff: Jurassic Park Wallpaper by Dave Delisle

Jurassic Park Wallpaper

Jurassic Park is usually the movie I tell people is my favorite when I have to pick one. I’ve watched it a bzillion times and I love everything about it, and I’m almost 100% sure that opinion isn’t totally based on nostalgia. I just love that freaking movie. I also love this wallpaper that was posted over at Dave’s Geeky Ideas featuring one of the low-tech computer interfaces from the film.

The computer interfaces might be the most dated part of Jurassic Park, but they’re classic. Who can forget Samuel Jackson staring at the huge CRT monitor as the electric fences start failing, or the touch screens in the Ford Explorers, or Dennis Nedry’s screensavers? Ok, I need to go watch Jurassic Park again.

Hold on to your butts and download the wallpaper at Dave’s website.
