Entertainment Weekly has the scoop on this new image of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in the upcoming Captain America movie. I love that it still looks like Hugo Weaving, and can’t wait to see/hear him in action.
Surely you know what Minecraft is. The game maintains a fascinating position as global cultural phenomenon while simultaneously keeping its underground status.
For the uninitiated, Minecraft is a game where you build things. It’s also a game where you are preyed upon by zombies and scary spiders. Part Lego, part horror film, it’s an addictive “little” indie game that has over 4.6 million registered users. Over one million of these users have paid about $20 each to participate. Oh yeah, and it’s existed as a playable Alpha for most of its life.
Filmmakers at 2 Player Productions have begun work on a documentary about Mojang, the Minecraft: The Story of Mojangcompany Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson formed to further development of the game. They’ve released a 20-minute proof-of-concept to help fund the film’s completion.
There’s a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $150,000 necessary to complete the documentary. At the time of this writing, they’re over half way to being fully funded. It’s inevitable that they’ll get there before the Mar. 26 deadline but if you act now, you can be a part of this special project. There are special rewards available to backers at different contribution levels.
Check out their Kickstarter page for more info. If their sample video is any indication, this is going to be a very compelling film worthy of your time—and contribution.
May 6th will be here before we know it, but until then we’ll have new trailers like this andmovie toys to keep us busy. I may or may not show up to a midnight screening here in Indy sporting a helmet and foam hammer. Only time will tell.
The trailer has some new bits involving Frost Giants and a little more screen time for Loki. In related news, MTV sat down with Thor director Kenneth Branagh and he revealed some details on the Frost Giants and the Destroyer, the metal monster that’s seen reeking havoc in the trailers.
“The story involves a clash with an ice planet and the frost giants who live therein. They — as might be suggested by the name — are enormous creatures of incredible power who have been robbed of their power and glory by Odin, Thor’s father,” he continued. “What fuels a lot of this intense battle is revenge. This is an angry race, trying to get back at Thor and the Asgardians, the self-proclaimed guardians of the universe.”
It’s official, the Spider-Man reboot is going to be called The Amazing Spider-Man. Marvel announced the title along with a brand new image of the costume, this time complete with the mask. I think it looks great, and I hope the film can match the lighting and mood these photos have had. This costume and the thought of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker is making me very excited to see what this movie has to offer.
Heads up users, it looks like Tron Legacy and Tron (now dubbed ‘The Original Classic’) are both headed to Blu-ray on April 5th. It looks like you’ll be able to pick up a few different versions, including a crazy-expensive collectors edition with five discs. Actually, six if you count the replica of an identity disc that comes bundled.
Say what you will about Tron Legacy, but it was visually stunning and will look great in HD. We’ll find out on April 5th how the original Tron looks.
