Disney’s Aladdin Next to Become a Broadway Show, Reports Captain Obvious

I’ve been wondering when Disney was going to turn Aladdin, aka My Favorite Freaking Disney Movie Ever™ into a Broadway musical. It’s so obvious. What I didn’t know is that there is a stage-show of Aladdin that has been turing around the country for a while now.

The version of “Aladdin” that hits Broadway next year will be substantially overhauled and will not be a transfer of the 5th Avenue production…That show was seen as a pilot production, designed to test the new book and additional score material. The Broadway production will involve a major new key player on the creative team, the individual said.

I’m sure Robin Williams had much to do with the awesomeness of Aladdin (especially the musical numbers), but don’t tell me this wouldn’t make a great Broadway show. I can’t believe it took this long.

Speaking of things taking forever, when is Aladdin coming to Blu-ray? Hmm Disney? When?!

Tiny Toons

We’re tiny, we’re tooney, we’re all a little looney…

And with that, every person born between 1975 and 1985 will have that song stuck in their head for the rest of the day (or week).
You’re welcome.

Excelsior! LEGO Marvel Superhero Videogame Coming Soon

LEGO Marvel Superheros

Ever since LEGO announced they had the Marvel license, the whole world has been clamoring for a LEGO Marvel Superheros video game. Luckily for us, it’s coming, and it’s coming relatively soon. Come fall 2013 you’ll be able to waste hours and hours collecting studs as a whole slew of Marvel characters. Yes please.

There’s just something about what Traveller’s Tales has done with these games. Not every one is great, but some are really awesome. I don’t even want to know how many hours I’ve spent playing LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

To hold you over, TT has released a trailer on YouTube.

‘Officially Limited’: A Documentary About the Collectible Poster Scene

Posted 7 years ago by Movies

If you read this site, you know I love geek art. I’m in the middle of redecorating my home office, and I literally have stacks of posters and prints framed and ready to hang. Most of the art I have wasn’t hard to get, but having bought one poster from Mondo directly and one after the fact on eBay, I understand how frustrating it can be to get limited edition art. This upcoming documentary by John Otterbacher is about the new and somewhat controversial nature of poster collecting, and it looks great.

He talks to folks from Mondo, Gallery 1988, and more about the recent phenomenon of super-limited edition posters by great artists. The documentary is up on Kickstarter-like IndieGoGo right now, and has a way to go to reach it’s goal.

As I finally get my office in order I’m going to posting a lot more about the art that I have and inviting you all to share your geek art collections (and maybe turn it into a contest of some sort), but in the meantime I can’t wait to see this documentary.

LEGO Palace Cinema is Awesome, Only Seats Six

As if LEGO Hobbits, Super Heroes, Minecraft, and Back to the Future wasn’t enough to drain your bank account, the newest set in the high-end Creator series is the Palace Cinema, and it’s awesome. I love the marquee and I hope the letters can be easily changed, because I’ve got lots of movies to screen for my minifigures.

This LEGO movie theater fits with the other modular buildings, like the Town Hall I got in July and have only completed the first floor of. These sets are really fun (and hard) to assemble, but there really aren’t any other LEGO products like them. They’re top notch. Here are some more photos:
