Disney Christmas Carol Train FAIL

Disney Train

In anticipation of Robert Zemeckis’ latest motion capture extravaganza, Disney has been touring the country with a special Christmas Carol train to raise awareness of the film and to block city streets for days at a time.

I’m not particularly excited about the film, because I usually hate motion capture, but when something like this rolls into town, I can’t pass it up. The tour includes glimpses at models, concept art, busts, and of course, a healthy dose of motion capture propaganda. They also set up an impressive outdoor, inflatable Disney Digital 3D theater to show off clips from the film.

Happy 10th Birthday Sega Dreamcast

dreamcast

The Sega Dreamcast turns 10 years old today. I know what I was doing ten years ago; working at the local Boys and Girls club after school and saving my pennies. When the Dreamcast came out I strutted down to Wal-Mart and plopped down my $200 or so and went home with my dream console. Oddly enough, they were all out of Sonic Adventures, so I bought Power Stone 2, and was very happy with it.

Lets all go over to ThinkGeek today and buy a brand new Dreamcast in the box for $99, and remember how awesome this console actually was. Continue reading to watch a cool video on the rise and fall of the Sega Dreamcast.

Expensive Toys: Legacy Collection Rancor

Posted 11 years ago by Toys

This is the first post in a recurring series on SMC aptly titled “Expensive Toys”. It’s for the things we all see when we duck into the toy aisle at our local Mega Store, and desperately want to take home with us, but rarely do.

Jabba’s Rancor

I’m not a Star Wars toy expert by any means, but I don’t remember ever seeing a Rancor toy that looked this awesome. I saw this the other day at Target, and the sticker indicates that it is a Target exclusive toy, but I’ve seen it on some online stores, like Amazon. It’s in the $60-80 range, so it definitely qualifies as an expensive toy. Needless to say, it didn’t come home with me, but someday it will be mine. Then I can reenact Luke stuffing a giant chicken bone in it’s mouth.

Hitler is Pissed About Disney Buying Marvel

Upon hearing of the Disney/Marvel deal, I had to join the club of people who create versions of “Hitler is Pissed…” Warning: There is some language in the subtitles, so viewer discretion is advised.

Note: I am actually pumped about Disney buying Marvel, I just had to do this, it was too much fun making fun of the Disney haters!
