We Wish You a Turtle Christmas

Posted 11 years ago by Television

Ah, the joys of being a TMNT fan. There’s always an obscure cringe-worthy video that you’ve long forgotten to dig up on YouTube. This is definitely the case with We Wish You a Turtle Christmas.

We laugh and sing and do our thing. We’re the Turtles.Awesome lyric

I’m sure I’ve seen this before, but when my friend John sent this to me today I think my heart grew three sizes from sheer joy. The TV special is about the Turtles’ quest to find a gift for Splinter, singing horribly written Christmas song spoofs along the way.

Horton Hears a Who! Blu-ray Review

Horton Hears A Who Blu-ray

Woo-hoo, more classic animation on Blu-ray! You’ll hear me screaming from the rooftops that we need more classic animation on Blu-ray (in fact, I’m working on a whole site on the subject), so I welcome all new releases. Even if Horton Hears a Who! isn’t my favorite Dr. Seuss story, it’s fun to have in High Definition.

Horton

This is a Seuss cartoon that I haven’t seen near as much as I’ve seen the Grinch or the Cat in the Hat. In fact, I’ve probably seen the 2008 film more times than I’ve actually seen this, and I hate to say it, but I think I like the 2008 film better.

Just like how every Halloween I watch Ernest Scared Stupid, every year around now I try to watch one of my favorite Christmas movies of the 80s, Ernest Saves Christmas (Amazon).

You either love Ernest or you hate him, but you can’t deny the fact that the Ernest P. Worrell phenomenon was one of the oddest things in pop culture history to this day. The character was created by an ad agency in Nashville, and grew to such huge popularity that they expanded to television and films.

Ernest Saves Christmas came out in 1988, and I remember watching it on TV just about every year. In this movie Ernest is a taxi driver in Orlando when Santa comes to town looking for a replacement.

A Muppets Christmas Letters to Santa DVD

Even though I could watch the Muppets every day, there’s something about them and Christmas that go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Maybe it’s the Muppet Christmas Carol, John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together, or the Muppet Family Christmas, but I end up thinking about the Muppets a lot this time of year.

So I was naturally excited to finally get to watch the Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa DVD, having missed it’s premier last year. I had read a lot about it, and fans seemed to be pretty happy with it.

SMC Version 5

Yesterday I launched the newest (and hopefully improved) design for Saturday Morning Central. December 14th was kind of an important day for the site because it marked the one year anniversary of what I like to call SMC Prime, or, the not-launching-the-site-and-only-running-it-for-a-month version.

Now with 100% less pink!* *excluding 80sTees ads
