Horton Hears A Who Blu-ray

Woo-hoo, more classic animation on Blu-ray! You’ll hear me screaming from the rooftops that we need more classic animation on Blu-ray (in fact, I’m working on a whole site on the subject), so I welcome all new releases. Even if Horton Hears a Who! isn’t my favorite Dr. Seuss story, it’s fun to have in High Definition.

Horton

This is a Seuss cartoon that I haven’t seen near as much as I’ve seen the Grinch or the Cat in the Hat. In fact, I’ve probably seen the 2008 film more times than I’ve actually seen this, and I hate to say it, but I think I like the 2008 film better.

Regardless, it looks fantastic on Blu-ray, and as usual they’ve added in enough bonus features to make it worth the purchase, such as:

  • In Search of Dr. Seuss: Kathy Najimy hosts a celebration of the author’s life
  • 2 Bonus specials – “Butter Battle Book” and “Daisy-Head Mayzie”
  • Sing-along video for the kids
  • Standard DVD of the film
  • Windows-only (and temporary) Digital Copy

In Search of Dr. Seuss is a feature length documentary from the 90s that aired on TNT, and has a ton of celebrity cameos. Check out the Wikipedia page to learn more about it.

The Verdict

Even though I don’t enjoy this film as much as the other Seuss classics on my shelf, I’m glad I have it.

Even though I don’t enjoy this film as much as the other Seuss classics on my shelf, I’m glad I have it. It’s still a classic and I can’t wait to watch it with my kids one day (hypothetically speaking).

I really hope other studios start following the example that is being set by Warner Bros. and Disney, and start pumping out more animation on Blu-ray. My wishlist for titles I want released is getting pretty long.

Horton Hears a Who! is availble now on Blu-ray.
