Gravity Falls is Finally Back with ‘Boss Mabel’

Boss Mabel

We love us some Gravity Falls around here and have been dying to see the hilarious cartoon return with new episodes. Thankfully, episode 13, titled ‘Boss Mabel’, ended the hiatus last Friday and new episodes will keep coming.

It took me a few days to finally catch Boss Mabel, and after rewatching every Gravity Falls episode a bzillion times I was worried the new episode wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Luckily, it’s just as great as all the others.

In Boss Mabel, Mabel challenges Grunkle Stan that she would be a better boss of the Mystery Shack. She encourages Stan to go on a vacation so she can try out her business ideas. Dipper loves the idea because he wants a chance to get some actual mysterious creatures as exhibits, and Soos wants to try out his Questiony The Question Mark mascot idea.

Stan goes away with hopes of getting on a game show, and mabel puts on a shoulder-padded business suit and prepares to rake in profits. Hilarity ensues.

Straight from the mouth of Gravity Falls creator and executive producer Alex Hirsch comes word of new T-shirts. There are four exclusive designs to choose from at welovefine.com. I’m partial to the Mabel Grappling Hook one but also love the ambiguity of the rainbow-puking gnome.

Additionally, the site is running a design contest where you have the chance to create your on GF shirt and win up to $2,000. You have until Jan. 31, 2013 to submit your entry that will be judged by show creative director Mike Rianda and Hirsch himself.

If that’s not enough Gravity Falls goodness for you, be sure to check out the Gravity News Gossiper podcast. I recently discovered this gem of a fan show devoted to the Disney Channel cartoon. Hosts Chris and Eugene dissect the series and help us through this insufferable hiatus as we wait for new episodes of our favorite show.

Corey Feldman Joins TMNT Voice Cast for Season 2
This is good news, but surely he's not going to be Casey Jones? I’m sure the new show will have a much younger, unique Casey Jones than we’re use to, so maybe Feldman wouldn’t be such a bad choice.

Cool Stuff: Dipper and Mabel Meet The Hulk

Hulk in Gravity Falls

Now that I posted the Gravity Falls episode of Saturday Morning Central, I’ve been going back and re-watching all the episodes and generally getting even more obsessed. One way I’ve been feeding my obsession is by hanging out in the Gravity Falls sub-Reddit, and from there I found this awesome illustration of Hulk meeting up with Dipper and Mabel.

A tiny part of me wants Disney to let Marvel or Star Wars crossover with Gravity Falls, but the show is pretty perfect the way it is now. Still, it’s awesome seeing what Hulk could look like if he ever wandered into Gravity Falls.

This illustration is by Jeffrey Thomas, and you can check out his blog and DeviantArt profile.

Saturday Morning Central is back, and this time Rob and Tim from Bubble Pipe Theater join me to talk about the amazing new cartoon Gravity Falls. This show is hilarious and we had no trouble geeking out about it for almost an hour, and I made sure to include plenty of clips for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.
