Well, the release of the epicly-hyped film Avatar is just around the corner. For better or worse, I’m going to see the movie at my local IMAX theater on Friday. I previously told you about the cool Avatar Toys that I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to play with yet, but today I bring you something new: Avatar Happy Meal Toys.
I didn’t have any nieces or nephews handy when I saw these at my local McDonald’s, so I haven’t picked any up yet, but they will be mine. Whether it’s great or a dud, you can’t deny the impact Avatar will have on the nostalgia of 2009, so the Avatar Happy Meal Toys have earned their place on my junk shelf.

Thanks to Payless shoes, you can now get a double dose of nostalgia on your feet with these new Airwalk Star Trek sneakers. Remember Airwalks? They were huge when I was in elementary school, and I’ll admit, I had a few pairs.
I never had any this geeky though. Available in three colors (including expendable red), the high-tops sport the Star Trek insignia on the laces. They’re available for a limited time, and they’re $50, so which color will you be buying?
I don’t cover music a whole lot on Saturday Morning Central, especially new music, but this is pretty cool. One Eskimo is a band from the UK, and they’re making their debut in the United States by trying out a new concept, a visual album. It’s a combination of music and animation in a 10-part series that tells the story of One Eskimo and his animal friends Giraffe, Penguin, and Monkey. The animation reminded me a lot of the Gorillaz videos, which is appropriate because it was produced by the same studio.
I would best describe the music as indie/electro pop, almost reminiscent of Radiohead. The music combined with the animation is a pretty cool laid back trip. It’s more like an ongoing story than just a collection of music videos.
