LEGO TMNT Set Photos!

LEGO TMNT Minifigs

LEGO went ahead and released photos of their TMNT sets and after I picked my jaw up off the floor I knew I had to post them. First off, the Turtles look great, even though they’re all the same shade of green. Raphael is perfect.

The Shredder is totally badass and may be one of my favorite minifigs ever.

There have to be a few more sets in the works, and I can’t wait to see what they are. I’m sure there will be some kind of Sewer Lair set, as well as a Foot Clan and/or Kraang headquarters. I’m sure we’ll find out soon. In the meantime, what do you guys think?

[Update] LEGO Announcing TMNT Sets Today at NYCC?

LEGO Pizza

Any readers of the ‘squatch going to be attending NYCC today? If so, make sure to scout out the LEGO booth, because FBTB received a mysterious LEGO pizza set in the mail today that makes a TMNT announcement seem pretty likely.

I received the above promo in the mail today and thought it was merely a promo piece for their first ever booth presence at New York Comic Con that kicks off tomorrow. Upon closer inspection, however, the bottom of the pizza slice box says “Box design and printing, Casey Jones LTD.” and it all clicked together, pretty much confirming what is going to be unveiled tomorrow at NYCC.

Anybody that snags one of those promo pizza slices (or any TMNT promos) for me gets a free THS t-shirt and my eternal gratitude. Hopefully later today we’ll have some solid news. I wonder if LEGO will just make sets based on the Nick show, or if they’ll go retro too? Could you imagine a LEGO Party Wagon or Technodrome?

Check out FBTB for the whole scoop.

Update! LEGO has released an official image!

LEGO TMNT

I like some of it but it could be better. I’m sure there will be plenty of posts to come analyzing the upcoming sets. Stay tuned!

Etsy Roundup: TMNT Edition

Etsy Roundup

Etsy is an interesting place. I go there and search every once in a while but I think I’ve only bought things a couple times. Out of curiosity today I searched for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to see what popped up, and what follows are some of the coolest items I found.

Some people seem to confuse Etsy with eBay, so I didn’t include anything like vintage clothes, action figures, or things that weren’t made by someone (or at least upcycled). These are all things I would buy if I felt like dropping money on more TMNT stuff for my collection.

Shredder Cozy

Shredder Cup Cozy by SmakJamCreations

Knitted things and crocheted things pop in to my mind first when I think of Etsy, so how appropriate that I found this adorable cup cozy featuring the Turtles’ arch-nemesis, The Shredder. There’s a lot to love about this, and when else will you get to use Shredder and cozy in the same sentence?

Cool Stuff: Partners in Kryme’s Live Performance of ‘Turtle Power’ from 1990

Posted 8 years ago by Music

I just finished recording the first episode of a new podcast (details coming soon) with blogging buddies Jaime Hood of ShezCrafti and Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s, and one of the things that got brought up was the 1990 song ‘Turtle Power’ from the first TMNT movie.

I remember rocking that song on cassette back in the day, and a brief trip down the I-wonder-what-happened-to-those-guys road led me to his awesome video of a live performance in 1990.

Partners in Kryme have what might be the saddest Wikipedia page ever, but they do have a Facebook page and don’t seem to be ashamed of their TMNT past, so kudos to them. Maybe they’d be up for being on a podcast and rapping for us all. The world would be a better place if they did.

Also, is it just me or are their back-up dancers dressed like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat?

Cool Stuff: Dinosaur Dracula’s Halloween Print

Dinosaur Dracula

If you’re a fan of this site, chances are you’re familiar with X-Entertainment, the holy grail of nostalgia/pop culture blogs. Matt posted awesome content for years and just recently rebooted with a new site, Dinosaur Dracula. His mascot is awesome, now is available in the form of a ‘Halloween Countdown 2012’ art print.

Illustrated by Jason Week, the print is available for $20, a small price to pay to support Matt and the years of blogotainment he’s provided us. Hopefully this is the first in a long series of Dinosaur Dracula merchandise. I want a t-shirt!

Head over to Dinosaur Dracula and pick up a copy before Halloween gets here.
