Geeky Shirt Roundup: Jurassic Story & The Incredible Hulk Hogan

Geeky Shirt Roundup

I haven’t posted any t-shirts on the site for a while, mainly because I see so many great ones but dont’ want to flood your RSS feed with them. So, like Missing Links, I’ll just round up a few every once in a while and post them together, starting with these two awesome new shirts from BustedTees.

The first is Jurassic Story, a cute/clever mashup of two of my favorite movies, Jurassic Park and Toy Story. I love how Rex is smiling at Woody and doesn’t look threatening at all.

The other shirt I just added to my cart is The Incredible Hulk Hogan, and as a non-wrestling fan it’s saying a lot that I think this is cool enough to buy. Seriously, I hate wrestling, but this shirt is too cool to pass up. I kind of wish they’d left off his catchphrase, but oh well.

Seen any cool shirts lately?

Retro Game Crunch: Possibly the Coolest Gaming Kickstarter Ever

Posted 8 years ago by Games

I’ve backed a lot of Kickstarters, but surprisingly only one game-related project. That was 16 months ago, and I still don’t have the game on my iPad. I got some sweet stickers and stuff, but I’ve almost completely forgotten about it.

Enter Shaun Inman, Rusty Moyher, and Matt Grimm. They want to make six retro games in six months, and have taken to Kickstarter to make it happen.

I’ve followed Shaun Inman’s career for a while now, and I’m a fan of all his games. Shaun, Rusty, and Matt recently collaborated on the game Super Clew Land in three days for the Ludum Dare Challenge, and after coming in third place they wanted to improve the game. They worked on it for thirty days, and then came up with the idea for Retro Game Crunch.

The Top Hat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang: Lego Magazine TMNT Ad
I love this LEGO TMNT poster and how it's going for the 1990 movie poster aesthetic.

First Look: Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in ‘Saving Mr. Banks’
Yes please.

Bret McKenzie Will Return for the Next Muppet Movie « ToughPigs
Great news. Bret McKenzie was one of the best things The Muppets had and I'm glad to see he'll back for round two.

J.J. Abrams Forays Into Animation With Adorable ‘Smurfs’-like ‘Beastlies’ | /Film
This is super interesting. These little Etsy characters are adorable and would totally work in films, and kudos to Bad Robot for discovering that.

Disney/Star Wars Podcast Roundup

starwars

Since the big news about Disney acquirnig LucasFilm hit the net last week, I’ve been consuming news and rumors as much as I can. Rob, Tim, and I already recorded an episode of Bubble Pipe Theater about the future of Star Wars, and I’ve been listening to lots of other podcasts to get as many geeks’ opinions as possible.

I know a lot of you are over this already, but I’m sure there are lots of you that like hearing the discussion about the future of Star Wars and wouldn’t mind a curated list of podcast episodes. Below are the shows I’ve listened to already, but feel free to let me know of any I missed, and I’ll update this post with new episodes.

‘Kraang Lab Escape’ and ‘Baxter Robot Rampage’ LEGO Sets Look Awesome

Posted 8 years ago by Toys

Kraang Lab Escape

The chunk of change I need to stash away for the TMNT LEGO sets next year keeps getting bigger. All the sets in the first wave have officially been revealed now, and they’re pretty great. If you’re like me, you appreciate the smaller, cheaper LEGO kits when they’re done right. Sets like Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown and the Superman/Power Armor Lex come to mind.

Well, most of the stuff from the new LEGO TMNT line we’ve seen so far has looked pricey, so it’s a relief to see sets like Kraang Lab Escape and Baxter Robot Rampage. They look like a lot of fun, and they come with some sweet minifigs. From Bricks to Bothans has a roundup of all the sets, but these two might be my favorites.
