Cool Stuff: Dipper and Mabel Meet The Hulk

Hulk in Gravity Falls

Now that I posted the Gravity Falls episode of Saturday Morning Central, I’ve been going back and re-watching all the episodes and generally getting even more obsessed. One way I’ve been feeding my obsession is by hanging out in the Gravity Falls sub-Reddit, and from there I found this awesome illustration of Hulk meeting up with Dipper and Mabel.

A tiny part of me wants Disney to let Marvel or Star Wars crossover with Gravity Falls, but the show is pretty perfect the way it is now. Still, it’s awesome seeing what Hulk could look like if he ever wandered into Gravity Falls.

This illustration is by Jeffrey Thomas, and you can check out his blog and DeviantArt profile.

Saturday Morning Central is back, and this time Rob and Tim from Bubble Pipe Theater join me to talk about the amazing new cartoon Gravity Falls. This show is hilarious and we had no trouble geeking out about it for almost an hour, and I made sure to include plenty of clips for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.

Playmates Announces TMNT Toys for 2013!

2013 TMNT Toys

I don’t use exclamation marks in headlines very often, but come on, new TMNT toys! We’ve already gotten a look at the TMNT LEGO sets for next year, but so far there’s been no news about Playmates’ new toys. With the new show and toys blowing up the way they are, we all new more toys had to be coming. Our friends at The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang spotted these new photos over at Toy News International, and it looks like we’re going to have plenty to spend our money on next year.

I knew we weren’t going to be able to avoid the crazy Turtle variant figures for long, and it looks like they’re coming already with what fans are dubbing The Ghostbuster Turtles. It’ll be Sports Turtles, Clowns, and Hip Hop Turtles before we know it. The bad thing is, I don’t really mind.

There are some new vehicles and playsets coming too, and there’s even a mention of Playmates’ Classic line getting a series two, which is awesome news! I love that Baxter Stockman, I just wish he could be about 11 inches tall and be the Krang’s Android Body of this new line.

Head on over to The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang for some more pictures!

‘Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 2’ Blu-ray Review

Pixar Short Films Vol. 2

The other Pixar Blu-ray out this week besides Brave is Volume 2 of Pixar’s Short Film Collection. The last volume came out five years ago and contained a lot of the studio’s early shorts. Since then, it’s become tradition to include shorts on their major Blu-ray releases, so I was wondering if this release would offer anything new or if it would be more shorts we already have.

Well, it’s a lot of stuff we already have and a few other things that make it worth it.

I’ve got a folder on my media center full of Pixar shorts that I’ve ripped, and so I was eager to see which shorts were on this volume that I didn’t already have from one of Pixar’s other Blu-rays. Unfortunately, the 12 main shorts are (mainly) available on other Pixar Blu-rays, but there are a few new additions. Combined with some awesome bonus features, this disc is worth it if you can find it at a good price.

Brave: 5-Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Review

Brave Blu-ray

Even though Pixar’s Golden Age may have ended with Toy Story 3 (in my opinion), I’m still a hardcore fan and get giddy with the thought of new movies from the studio. However, Cars 2 was the first Pixar movie I genuinely disliked, and so I was more than ready to wash that taste out of my mouth and hoped Brave would accomplish that.

While it wasn’t as great as I was hoping it would be, Brave is still a fun movie and more than made up for the turd that was Cars 2. When the 5-disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition showed up on my doorstep, I was excited to check out the movie again, and I think I liked it better the second time around.
