It’s Time to Meet the Muppets (Trailer)

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

There’s a lot of movies for geeks to be excited about in 2011. Lots of superheroes are getting their first movies, the Harry Potter saga is coming to an end, and The Muppets are finally getting a new movie that looks like it’s at least trying to pay homage to the classic Muppets.

I haven’t posted any of the short viralish teasers that Disney’s released, partly because I’m trying to not repost things from other blogs as much, but mainly because I was waiting for the first full trailer.

I think it was worth the wait. The voices may not be the same, but it has that Muppet spirit. In case you’re still not convinced, here are some reasons why you should be excited:

  • Written by Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller
  • Directed by James Bobin, co-creator of Flight of the Conchords
  • Zach Galifianakis as a hobo
  • All the other cameos
  • Original songs by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords

What do you think? Are you going to line up with me to see it at midnight?

‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ Season One on DVD 6/21!

Rocko's Modern Life

Wow, I didn’t expect to get this bit of news in my inbox today. Nickelodeon and Shout! Factory are brining the entire first season of Rocko’s Modern Life, my favorite 90s cartoon, to DVD in June. This is especially surprising because for a while Amazon has had exclusive dibs on some crappy ‘best of’ DVDs, but now we’ll actually get all 26 episodes of the first season on two discs. I’m so excited.

Here’s the full press release:

DK Star Wars ‘Attack of the Authors’ East Coast Tour

Attack of the Authors

Our good friends over at DK Publishing just sent word of their new “Attack of the Authors” East Coast Tour to support the new book Star Wars: Battles for the Galaxy that comes out on April 18th.

You can find a pretty good preview of the book at the DK UK site, but we’ll have an early review sometime soon. Like most cool events, their tour isn’t coming close to me, but hopefully some of you are in their path and can report back with some photos. I should let them know that their logo for the event clearly includes Indiana, but I’ll let them off the hook.

Here are the details straight from DK:

(Almost) Shirt of the Day: Avenger Time

Posted 9 years ago by Shirts

As I’ve said before, I love a good mash-up. This Threadless submission by Steven Lefcourt is another brilliant example. He combined the two most iconic of Marvel’s Avengers with Finn and Jake from Pendleton Ward’s animated series Adventure Time. The character cross-over is brilliant but title combination makes it almost a magical mix. (The inclusion of Mjolnir in the title graphic is an extra special touch.)

Shirt of the Day: Horton Hears a Doctor

Posted 9 years ago by Shirts

I’ve said before that I’m kind of over the clever pop culture mash-up shirts that have become the default design for most t-shirt sites. And while the latest Ript Apparel shirt definitely falls into that category, I can’t help but dig this design. I think it’s because it’s not just Mario dressed in a Stormtrooper outfit or Kermit the Frog hulking out.

This shirt’s subtle. It says so much without requiring a big flashy headline or obvious play on a character’s catch phrase. Any time you have to think about a t-shirt before you get it, that makes it a success in my book.

Head on over to Ript and pick up your own for only $10. But hurry – it’ll be gone tomorrow at 12:00 Central!
