Hello, my name is Tommy, and I’m a Harry Potter geek. I wasn’t before last week, in fact I had only seen one Harry Potter film in the theater, and I was about 16 years old at the time. I was more of a Lord of the Rings guy.
Well, when the Half-blood Prince was released this summer, I realized that there was a ton of Potter movies now, and that it might be fun to get into it, even if it was a little late. Then Warner Bros. sends me a huge Ultimate Edition Blu-ray, and I’m hooked.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Ultimate Edition Blu-ray is a massive box set (the largest on my Blu-ray shelf) that contains everything you see above. I like how they’re going about this Ultimate Edition series. Each set will have a documentary that will cover a different aspect of the whole Harry Potter saga. When all the films are released in Ultimate Editions, that will add up to over eight hours, and this is a much better put together documentary than what you’d find on a normal DVD or Blu-ray.
The Features
- This set includes the extended version of the film. The Sorcerer’s Stone is extended by around 7 minutes, and the Chamber of Secrets is an extra 13 minutes long.
- Creating the World of Harry Potter, Part 1: The Magic Begins
- Never before seen screen tests
- New and old interviews with cast members
- A nice hardback book containing a ton of behind the scenes photos from the Harry Potter series.
- In-movie Experience with director Chris Columbus on the theatrical version of the film.
- All of the bonus features from the previous DVD edition.
They really did a great job with these Ultimate Editions. There is enough content to keep you busy for a while, the film looks great in High Definition, and it’s a hell of a lot easier to pick out which Harry Potter film it is on the shelf, as opposed to the standard Blu-rays with the hard-to-read titles on the spine.
The Sorcerer’s Stone Ultimate Edition Blu-ray is available now, and it’s a must-buy for Harry Potter fans.
