Watch This: Donald Duck in ‘Trailer Horn’ – 1950

Posted 8 years ago by Animated Shorts

I didn’t mean for the site to become a baron wasteland the past few days, but I’m currently on vacation in the boonies camping along Lake Michigan, and apparently this town hasn’t discovered cell phone signals or the Internet yet.

Luckily this coffee shop is fairly civilized, and so I thought I’d distract you all with a classic Disney short from 1950 featuring my favorite animated short subject matter: vacations. For some reason, most of my favorite shorts revolve around recreation, like my all-time favorite, Mickey’s Trailer.

Shorts with Donald Duck and Chip ‘n’ Dale are also favorites of mine, and seeing an actual chipmunk (I named him Dale) while camping made me think of this short. Make sure to check back soon because we have some crazy awesome stuff coming in the next couple weeks.

Marvel Super Heroes Get ‘Disassembled’ in Hilarious New Cartoon

I love Marvel Comics characters with every ounce of my being. But that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to a little parody. This animated short by Junaid Chundrigar is a damn-near-perfect send-up of all the classic Marvel characters.

After you’ve watched — and thoroughly enjoyed — this little cartoon, check out his site at Imajunation.com. This Netherlands native is a very talented guy.

Oh, and just like the big screen films, stick around for a short little bonus scene after the video’s credits.

Watch This: ‘Meet Buck’

Meet Buck is an animated short film by a group of students from the French school Supinfocom. It’s CG but has a wonderful painterly look, and it’s full of energy. What happens when the daughter of a hunter brings home her buck boyfriend to meet her Dad?

‘Superman Classic’ by Robb Pratt

Posted 9 years ago by Animated Shorts

Rob Pratt is a veteran Disney animator who recently created this awesome (but short) Superman animated film aptly called Superman Classic. He used music from the old Superman serials, the voice of Superboy from the short-lived TV series, and animated it himself with a couple friends. The results are pretty amazing. Well done, Rob.

Watch This: Hair-Raising Hare (1946)

Posted 10 years ago by Animated Shorts

In light of yesterday’s review of The 100 Greatest Looney Tunes book, I’ve decided to bring the Watch This! series back from the dead with the classic Looney Tunes short, Hair-Raising Hare. I grew up watching this short over and over at my Grandparent’s house and any time it was on TV. Luckily, it’s in the one Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVD I own, so I still watch it every once in a while. And of course, it’s on YouTube, so why don’t you slack off at work for a few minutes and enjoy?
