Upcoming Retro iPad Apps

I don’t know how much it comes through here on Saturday Morning Central, but I’m a huge Apple fan. Since way before it was even announced, I’ve been looking forward to getting an Apple iPad, and since it’s release is just days away, a lot of videos are starting to come in from app developers. I’m pretty sure that apps will make this more popular than the iPhone, but only time will tell.

In addition to the fact that Apple’s official iPad case looks like a Trapper Keeper sprayed black (please Mead, make some TK iPad cases!), there are a few retro apps on the horizon that warrant me posting this here. Enjoy!

This can only mean one thing: it’s only a matter of time before we see a Wooly Willy iPad game.

Nothing too mind blowing here, but I like the fact that Game Table is meant for two humans to play. That means it’s basically just an interactive game board (instead of playing vs. the CPU), but that almost makes it sound more interesting to me.

iBrite is probably the most clever app coming that will exploit our collective nostalgia and force us to pay somewhere between 99 cents a few bucks, but it looks worth it.

Ok, so Mondo Solitaire isn’t really retro, but I doubt I’m not alone in considering virtual solitaire to be nostalgic. Windows 3.0 anyone?

Coverfire is a retro-looking arcade game coming sometime soon for the iPad. I’m still not 100% sold on touch controls in gaming, but I’m definitely looking forward to trying it on the iPad vs. it’s smaller, older sibling, the iPhone.

Everyone has been saying the iPad will save comic books. I don’t really have an opinion on that since I’m not the biggest fan of comics, but this app from Marvel looks like it will at least point the industry in the right direction. Retro? Maybe not, but just wait until you can load your iPad up with vintage TMNT, Scrooge McDuck, and Archie comics.
