Michael Bay to Ruin New TMNT Film

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

Oh great, it looks like Paramount has handed over the new TMNT live action movie to production studio Platinum Dunes. Dunes was created in 2001 by non-other than Mr. Lets-Ruin-Your-Childhood, Michael Bay, along with a couple other guys.

Thankfully right now Bay is just listed as a producer, but the prospect of a cool new TMNT movie is getting a lot more grim for me. Lets just hope Nickelodeon realizes the gold mine they have with Alex Deligiannis as an employee, and let him create an awesome 80s-throwback cartoon.

Posted 10 years ago by Art

In addition to making awesome Twitter Avatars, Joey Ellis has been busy creating this set of TMNT illustrations that I now badly want on the wall in my office.

Suggestions for future doodles: Ace Duck, The Rat King, and Fugitoid. Any suggestions from you?

You’ve probably seen the awesome game cartridge soaps from Geeksoap, a great new company in my hometown of Indianapolis. Just when I thought their products couldn’t get any cooler than these awesome designs, they tease us with images of their upcoming TMNT guest soaps.

If I’m ever a guest at your house, I expect these in the bathroom or else I’m not showering.

The Wonderful Twitter Avatars of Joey Ellis

One of my favorite things about Twitter is how it is a great place to discover artists. Over the years I’ve been tweeting either I’ve stumbled across artists with similar interests or they’ve found me somehow. One in particular is Joey Ellis, and if you follow him you’re most likely familiar with his awesome Twitter avatars.

His trademark is an awesome avatar of a character you’re familiar with wearing Mickey ears. Here are some of my favorites.

You can find the whole collection in this huge Flickr set.

The Least Awesome Flea Market in the World

Posted 10 years ago by Stuff, Toys

If you follow me on Twitter @SaturdayMorning (and you really should), you may have seen that last weekend I was pretty excited about a trip I was taking with my Mom. A few months ago we were on our way south and passed this building on the interstate, and I knew that someday I would go. I had visions of mile-long tables filled with 80s action figures, retro video games, and miscellaneous junk. The Most Awesome Flea Market in the World? How could this not be good?

As it turns out, the meaning of awesome varies a great deal depending on if you are a redneck or not.
