The Simpsons Collectible LEGO Minifigures Revealed

The Simpsons

We’ve already seen the amazing LEGO Simpsons house (which will be mine, I swear), but the series of blind-packaged, collectible minifigures based on the hit show hadn’t all been revealed yet until this week. And good news, not only did they do a great job on all the characters, but they replaced the heavy eyelids of the Simpsons family with better looking ones! These new versions of the Simpsons make me want the House set even more.

I never would have thought that Simpsons characters would look so good in LEGO form, but they do. Everyone from Ralph Wiggum to Krusty to Nelson look great, and I love that they come with appropriate accessories. A ‘Choo Choo Choose You’ valentine? Awesome.

I hope these minifigures sell like hotcakes so we can get one or two more series based on the show. There are so many more characters I need in LEGO form. Lenny, Carl, Barney, Moe (seriously, where’s Moe?), Comic Book Guy, Bumblebee Man, Skinner, Groundskeeper Willie….well you get the point.

Cool Stuff: The Simpsons 25th Anniversary Homer Simpson Mr. Potato Head

I keep throwing money at my computer screen, but nothing is happening. Seriously, I’ve held back on buying any of the cool pop culture Mr. Potato Heads that have come out over the years, but this Homer Simpson version is pretty awesome and would look great in my office. I wonder what else they have up their sleeves for the 25th Anniversary of The Simpsons this year?

Cool Stuff: LEGO Simpsons House

LEGO Simpsons House

I still can’t believe that LEGO is releasing a Simpsons set and a series of collectible minifigures this year. Even with their licensing frenzy of the past few years, I always thought The Simpsons would be considered “too adult” for the line of toys. I’m not complaining though, because I want this set very badly.

LEGO just unveiled the Simpsons House 71006 set and it looks so much better than I would have guessed it would. It comes out soon and will run $200, but it is huge, actually has interior rooms, comes with the whole Simpsons family plus Flanders, and even has their famous pink car. That seems like a lot for $200.

The rooms on the inside look cramped, but I still give LEGO credit for cramming all that inside this house. I write about LEGO a lot on Top Hat Sasquatch, but honestly I don’t buy sets that often. They’re expensive, and once I put them together they’re not that easy to display. This house though, will fit right on a shelf and look awesome. I don’t even have many of the TMNT LEGO sets, but I will definitely be buying this one.

Head over to FBTB to see a ton more high quality photos of the set.

Here’s the Official LEGO Homer Simpson Minifigure

LEGO Home

I still can’t believe that in 2014 we are going to get really-for-real Simpsons LEGO sets. If you haven’t heard, there will be a Simpsons House set along with a whole line of blind-packaged Simpsons minifigures (16 in total, I believe). I never would have guessed the Simpsons, with their more adult humor, would get made into LEGO sets, but I’m happy they are. I’m a huge fan of both and to have them combined is going to be awesome. Not to mention having the Simpsons’ house in my office. That is going to be great.

The minifigures have been leaking slowly for a few weeks, and here is the first look at Homer. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing some variations of Homer (please Glob give us a fat Homer in mumu) but this is the standard, classic Homer. The heads will take some getting used too, but I’m sure standard LEGO heads with painted-on Simpsons faces would look a lot worse.

What do you think?

Universal Studios Opening a Simpsons Land This Summer

The Simpsons

I don’t know how I hadn’t heard about this sooner, but I squealed like a little girl when I read this news. Later this summer the wife and I will be heading down to Orlando for a much overdue vacation to celebrate our anniversary, and we were already planning on hitting up Universal Studios in between our beer-from-every-country-days at Epcot. I was pumped about seeing the Harry Potter park, but I had no clue there was going to be more Simpsons stuff too.

I’m a crazy-huge Simpsons fan, and just getting to walk around a section of Universal modeled after Springfield would be amazing, let alone getting to actually try Duff Beer, Krusty Burgers, and Lard Lad donuts. From the official press release:

For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as “Shelbyville by the Sea.” They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman, get a slice at Luigi’s Pizza, go nuts for donuts at Lard Lad, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” with Bumblebee Man and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern.

They had me at Krusty-certified meat sandwich.

There is no solid opening date, but the site Orlando Informer expects the restaurants to be open by June 20th and the waterfront attractions (the Kang & Kodos ride and Duff Gardens) to not open until September. All I know is that if there’s not some awesome Simpsons stuff open by late July, I’ll be a sad panda.

I wonder if they’ll sell Bort license plates?
