Watch This: Pluto’s Christmas Tree (1952)

In case you’ve been overwhelmed with the holiday season like I have this year, here is a classic Christmas Disney short to get you in the mood. Well, for Christmas, that is.

It’s Pluto’s Christmas from 1952, and it stars Pluto and my favorite Chipmunks, Chip ‘n Dale. I have it on a Disney Treasures set, but I’m pretty sure that every DVD this has been on is now out of print. All the more reason for you to enjoy it here!

As always, you can read more about this classic Disney short over at DisneyShorts.org.

Watch This: Turkey Day Donald Duck – Soup’s On

Ok, so this one doesn’t specifically say it’s Thanksgiving, but I think it’s pretty obvious. Enjoy the 1948 Donald Duck short Soup’s On, if you haven’t eaten yourself into a Turkey coma already.

You can read more about Soup’s On at DisneyShorts.org.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and I’ll see you on Monday. Try not to trample anyone to death on Black Friday.

Watch This: Three for Breakfast – 1948

Some of my favorite classic Disney shorts are the few that feature Chip n’ Dale. Usually they pit the tiny critters against Donald Duck, who has always been my favorite Disney character. There is just something about those shorts that perfectly defines nostalgia for me, and Three for Breakfast is a great example.

You can read more about this short on DisneyShorts.org or you can find it on the Classic Cartoon Favorites: Vol. 4 – Starring Chip ‘n Dale DVD, which is a great set.

Disney Treasures Wave IX: Zorro Seasons 1 and 2

Disney Treasures Zorro

The Disney Treasures series occupies a huge chunk of my DVD shelves. I try to collect all the animation-related waves, but have never watched any of the live action sets until now. Today Disney released Zorro Seasons One and Two, in special edition black tins and cases.

I remember watching this show in reruns on the Disney Channel with my Dad, and I’m excited to watch them with him again. All 78 episodes have been restored and are spread across 12 discs on two sets. The show aired from 1957 to 1959, and was one of the most successful shows of its time. There have been a few different home video releases of Zorro, but the Disney Treasures sets are definitely the definitive versions.

Each individually numbered set includes a collectible pin, an authenticity certificate, an exclusive lithograph, and comes in a unique black Disney Treasures tin. To my knowledge, the only other special colored DT tin has been the gold Oswald the Lucky Rabbit set (which is awesome).

Watch This: Disney’s The Mad Doctor – 1933

Since tomorrow’s Halloween and I’m dressing up as a Mad Scientist, I thought it would be appropriate for us all to watch The Mad Doctor from January 21st, 1933. This isn’t exactly the version of a Mad Scientist I’m using for my Halloween costume (as you can see below), but this is cool because this character is going to be in the Epic Mickey game.

You can read more about the Mad Doctor on DisneyShorts.org.
