You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown Review

Out on DVD today is You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown from Warner Bros. This Peanuts release is a little different from the recent ones from WB in that it is an animated adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name.

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is made up of sketches and musical numbers and is quite different than most Peanuts animated fare, but a little variety is nice. I played Charlie Brown in a production of the sequel to this musical once, called Snoopy so I was surprised to see that this even existed.

I Watched G-Force on Blu-ray

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

When G-Force came out in the theaters a while ago, I kept kidding my wife that we were going to go see it, whether she liked it or not. Well, that never happened, but I got the last laugh, because now we have it on Blu-ray.

How was it? It was exactly what I thought it would be. I laughed a lot, just maybe not for the reasons the filmmakers intended. I just wanted to watch some CG gerbils save the world.

It’s produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so you know the action is going to be great, and it stars the voices of Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, Jon Favreau, Penelope Cruz, Tracy Morgan, and Steve Buscemi. Oh, and Zak Galifianakis is in it too. What are you waiting for?

Captain America Movie (1990) Now on Hulu

Posted 11 years ago by Movies

It seems like Hulu gets all the movies I rented constantly as a kid in the 90s. One of their newest additions is the guilty-pleasure Captain America movie from 1990. I loved this as a kid, even though I knew it was horrible.

If nothing else, it will get you pumped up that they’re finally making a real Captain America movie soon.

Check out the details on IMDB, and thanks to SlashFilm for the tip. Oh, and Happy New Year!

Revisiting Ernest Saves Christmas

Ernest Saves Christmas

Just like how every Halloween I watch Ernest Scared Stupid, every year around now I try to watch one of my favorite Christmas movies of the 80s, Ernest Saves Christmas (Amazon).

You either love Ernest or you hate him, but you can’t deny the fact that the Ernest P. Worrell phenomenon was one of the oddest things in pop culture history to this day. The character was created by an ad agency in Nashville, and grew to such huge popularity that they expanded to television and films.

Ernest Saves Christmas came out in 1988, and I remember watching it on TV just about every year. In this movie Ernest is a taxi driver in Orlando when Santa comes to town looking for a replacement.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Edition Blu-ray

Harry Potter Ultimate Edition Blu-ray

Previously I told you about how I have recently become a Harry Potter geek, thanks to the Ultimate Edition Blu-rays. Much of what I said about the Sorcerer’s Stone is true for the second film’s box set. It’s just as great.

Harry Potter Ultimate Edition Blu-ray

This time around Harry and the gang are a little older, and have to deal with magic a little darker than in the first film. I was watching this for the first time, and I really enjoyed it. On this set, the Creating the World of Harry Potter documentary series continues with Part 2: Characters. Mrs. SMC and I were a little surprised when the documentary went beyond the second film and started talking about characters we hadn’t seen yet. But, I think it’s smart for them to structure the documentaries like that, because when all eight are released it will make for one massive feature.
