Does LEGO Have the TMNT License?

LEGO TMNT

I try not to post a lot of wild speculation on the site or a lot of headlines with question marks at the end, but when it involves two of my favorite things possibly combining to form one perfectly awesome thing, I’ve gotta post it.

There are rumors on the interwebs that LEGO has the license for the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show and are releasing sets in 2013. Yes, LEGO TMNT could maybe become a thing.

I hope so. Mega Bloks’ license seemed to expire before Viacom bought the Turtles, and I’d love to see what LEGO could do. I would knock kids down to get to official LEGO TMNT sets.

The rumor originated on a French LEGO blog called Hoth Bricks that claims to have a reliable source. With Nickelodeon pushing the new show as much as they have been, and with their established relationship with LEGO, I could totally see this happening.

What do you think, would you buy LEGO TMNT sets?

  • I’m picturing the $200 dollar Technodrome playset in my mind as I type this!

    • I wonder if a LEGO series based on the new Nick show was super successful, if they would also come out with some retro-themed sets. I want a LEGO Party Wagon!

If they do indeed go with some stuff from the old line (and why wouldn’t they) im going to need another job.

  • Ah man… a Lego Technodrome. Can you imagine? I’m drooling already!!

  • JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

  • Word on the street is that TMNT keychains will be out in LEGO stores within the year, followed by TMNT minifigs.

  • Cody Mix

My mind is abuzz with possibilities! The Mega Bloks turtles weren’t too terrible in my opinion but of course no where near the quality you would get from Lego brand.
