Hasbro’s SDCC 2010 Exclusives

Posted 10 years ago by Toys

If you’re lucky enough to be able to attend SDCC this year, here is a heads up on some of Hasbro’s exclusive toys. I don’t know what I’d do with myself at an event that huge, but I’m sure I would want to spend way more money than I would have. Hell, I’d go just to get this Super Hero Squad Show exclusive featuring the mayor of Superhero City and Dr. Doom in his jammies.

80s Toy Show at the Autumn Society [Art]

Posted 10 years ago by Art

The Autumn Society is an awesome collective of illustrators and fine artists who seem just as obsessed with nostalgia as I do. Well, this Friday they’re hosting the 80s Toy Show at Brave New World Comics, and I really wish I could be there.

There will be a lot of art there that I would be glad to put on my wall, including the Transformers by Dave Perillo. You may remember Dave’s Ghostbusters art I posted last year.

If you’re in the area and check it out, I’d be glad to post some photos from the event.

Cool Stuff: Trevor Hutchinson’s Transformers Wallpaper

Posted 10 years ago by Television

Trevor Hutchinson is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Australia who has been working on Transformers for IDW Publishing, dressing up as a classic Disney animator, and various other awesome things.

Over at his blog he’s got a beautiful Transformers desktop wallpaper that you should all download. The Transformers movies can’t be unseen if you’ve watched them, but great art like this helps erase the memories.

Are you an artist looking for some exposure? Send me your retro-inspired wallpapers and I’ll post them up!

Transformers Holy Grail – Matrix of Leadership DVD Set

Transformers DVD Set

As if there wasn’t enough cool stuff to help deplete our checking accounts this year, on October 20th Shout! Factory is releasing a Transformers: 25th Anniversary “Matrix of Leadership” Edition Collector’s Set. It’s going to contain 16 DVDs, 98 restored episodes, a ton of bonus content, voice cast reunions, a 60-page book, Autobot and Decepticon magnets, and more.

This set is a beast. It’s going to be over 38 hours long. It’s going to have archival Hasbro toy commercials, PSAs, art galleries, and even an animated fan film called Transformers: Generations, which is hopefully better than Star Trek Generations.

No word on the cost yet, but we’ll find out closer to October 20th.
