[Update] LEGO Announcing TMNT Sets Today at NYCC?

LEGO Pizza

Any readers of the ‘squatch going to be attending NYCC today? If so, make sure to scout out the LEGO booth, because FBTB received a mysterious LEGO pizza set in the mail today that makes a TMNT announcement seem pretty likely.

I received the above promo in the mail today and thought it was merely a promo piece for their first ever booth presence at New York Comic Con that kicks off tomorrow. Upon closer inspection, however, the bottom of the pizza slice box says “Box design and printing, Casey Jones LTD.” and it all clicked together, pretty much confirming what is going to be unveiled tomorrow at NYCC.

Anybody that snags one of those promo pizza slices (or any TMNT promos) for me gets a free THS t-shirt and my eternal gratitude. Hopefully later today we’ll have some solid news. I wonder if LEGO will just make sets based on the Nick show, or if they’ll go retro too? Could you imagine a LEGO Party Wagon or Technodrome?

Check out FBTB for the whole scoop.

Update! LEGO has released an official image!

LEGO TMNT

I like some of it but it could be better. I’m sure there will be plenty of posts to come analyzing the upcoming sets. Stay tuned!

Toys I Had: LEGO Town 6350: Pizza To Go

Pizza to Go

We’ve been talking an awful lot about new and upcoming LEGO sets lately on Top Hat Sasquatch, but today I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and write the first post in a new series called Toys I Had. We’re going to be taking a look at the LEGO Town set 6350: Pizza to Go.

The year was 1994 and I was a 9 year-old kid who’s Dad happened to own a pizza restaurant when this set came out. Add the fact that I loved LEGO and it was inevitable that I would get this and build it in to my gradually expanding plastic city. Finally, the policemen, firemen, convicts, and fashionable 90’s city minifigs would have a place to eat, courtesy of the new local Pizzeria. They wouldn’t even have to leave their multi-colored, open-roofed houses to get it, because 6350 not only included the Pizzeria, but also a delivery truck. Awesome.

I’ve always had a soft-spot for LEGO city, mainly because there were no licensed sets when I was at my prime brick-buying age and I ended up with police stations, fire stations, space shuttles, and of course…a pizzeria.

Case Closed: Pig Out: Dine Like a Swine!

Posted 9 years ago by Games

If you listened to this week’s episode of Bubble Pipe Theater, you’ll hear me mention a mystery arcade game that my Dad use to have in the Noble Roman’s pizza shop he ran when I was a kid. For years I’ve been trying to remember what this game was called, and hadn’t been able to find anything online about it. All I could remember is that it starred the three little pigs, and that you fought the Big Bad Wolf by throwing junk at him.

After the podcast, I dug around a bit more, and I finally tracked it down (thanks to a thread on Giant Bomb), and it’s called Pig Out: Dine Like a Swine!.

Now, I still consider this a nostalgic victory, but file this under things-I-remember-being-awesome-that-turn-out-to-actually-be-pretty-lame. The gameplay looks horrible, and with those damn pigs constantly yelling “Mine!” it’s hard telling how I ever forgot this game in the first place.
