I’ve always wanted a cool 12 inch Star Wars figure. It may have taken me over twenty years to finally get one, but the years of waiting paid off. Now I have a sweet 12 inch figure from Sideshow Collectibles of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a General in the Clone Wars.
This figure from Sideshow is insanely detailed, from the likeness of Ewan McGregor to the PVC clone armor.
Here are some of the features:
- Fully articulated male body with 30+ points of articulation
- Authentic likeness of Obi-Wan Kenobi
- Cape
- Tunic
- Fully Detailed Armor Set (helmet not included)
- Lightsaber hilt – unlit
- Lightsaber – ignited
- 12-inch Figure Display Base with Star Wars logo
The cool thing is that this figure is based on the 2D Clone Wars cartoon from 2003/2005 that was produced by Genndy Tartakovsky (Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Lab, Samurai Jack). I happen to love that series, and I think that is one of the reasons I haven’t gotten myself to watch the new 3D series yet.
Anyway, this look for Obi-Wan originated in that series, and the box contains artwork from the show. It’s interesting that they would manufacture a figure this detailed when the show was so stylized, but it’s awesome so who cares! The articulation is great, even if it’s a little hard to get him to stand on his own.
The armor actually comes off, but then you’re left with Obi-Wan wearing a weird, brown jumpsuit, so I wouldn’t recommend it. Someday I’ll get a cool original trilogy version of Obi-Wan, and have a crazy time-warp lightsaber dual on my desk.
The Verdict
If you’re in the market for a high-end Star Wars collectible, this Obi-Wan is pretty amazing. Even if you’re not the biggest fan of the prequel trilogy, you can’t really deny the detail and artistry that went into making this.
It around $90, so if you’re a toy collector and you like Star Wars, this would be a great addition to your collection. You can find the product page on Sideshow Collectibles’ website by following the link below.
