LEGO News Roundup: New City Sets, Minifigures Series 9, and More

LEGO Helicopter Arrest

There has been a ton of LEGO awesomeness popping up in my RSS feeds lately, so I decided it was time for a LEGO News Roundup. LEGO is teasing a lot of great looking new products for next year, and even with TMNT LEGO sets coming out I’m most excited about the new City sets. The City line will always be my favorite, and some of the new sets look great.

I love the Helicopter Arrest set. It looks like an abandoned dock hideout with a place to stash a boat, boarded up windows, and a pretty snazzy orange truck. It almost reminds me of the Gator Landing set I use to have back in the day, just minus the gators.

LEGO Fire Emergency

Sometimes I feel like the smaller (read: cheaper) sets are never as fun as the bigger ones, but this Fire Emergency looks pretty sweet. Take off the fire and you’ve got another creepy place for your LEGO criminals to hang out in. Make sure to check out the post on the Eurobricks forum to see a ton of new City sets in high-res pictures.

LEGO TIE Fighter

Powerpig’s Builds ‘n Things

Powerpig, aka Chris McVeigh is constantly creating awesome things with LEGO, and around the holidays he sells ornament kits that seem to get better every year. His latest is a set of mini TIE Fighters that I’d take over turtledoves any day. Also, if you’re an Instagramer, make sure to follow him.

Minifigures Series 9

Collectible Minifigures Series 9

When we interviewed Joe Meno on Bubble Pipe Theater a few months ago he said LEGO didn’t have plans to continue the Minifigures line after series 8, but I’m glad they changed their tune. They teased the new lineup on their Facebook page, and it looks like this is going to be another great series. [Eurobricks]

40% Off One Toy at YoYo.com

LEGO sets don’t usually get discounted much, and definitely not as low as 40%, so take advantage of YoYo.com’s sale to grab a set for a few bucks under retail. Use promo code TOY40 at checkout.

15% off 2+ Mega Bloks Halo & World of Warcraft sets at Yoyo.com! Enter code: HALOWWW

Sadly I did not see this post until today – the YOYO 40% off has expired, but there is a 30% off deal now: YOYO30

    • Oh thanks, I’ll make sure to update it the post. Still not a bad discount when it comes to LEGO!

      • True, which is why I ordered from them anyways – needed a set for my daughter for xmas and can’t get a better deal than this!

  • PS I’d never heard of YoYo.com but it’s actually pretty cool.
