A Muppets Christmas Letters to Santa DVD Review
Posted 11 years ago by Tommy Television
Even though I could watch the Muppets every day, there’s something about them and Christmas that go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Maybe it’s the Muppet Christmas Carol, John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together, or the Muppet Family Christmas, but I end up thinking about the Muppets a lot this time of year.
So I was naturally excited to finally get to watch the Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa DVD, having missed it’s premier last year. I had read a lot about it, and fans seemed to be pretty happy with it.
It’s not the Muppets we grew up with, literally and figuratively.
Like most of Disney’s Muppet content from the last few years (with the exception of their new viral videos), I didn’t like it. It’s not the Muppets we grew up with, literally and figuratively. It’s hard enough getting used to different actors performing the characters (besides Gonzo), but it just doesn’t feel like the Muppets.
The special revolves around the Muppets trying to get three letters to Santa in time for Christmas. There are lots of cameos, including Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman, and Jane Krakowski.
Bonus Features
I’m sure kids would like it just fine, and here is what they’d find on the DVD:
- Ten Additional Minutes of Muppet magic not seen on TV including hilarious bloopers.
- “Glad All Over” – Music Video featuring the Muppets dancing to the Dave Clark Five.
- The Muppets Stocking Stuffer Smorgasbord – A delightful mish-mash of Muppet mayhem
- Deleted Scenes
A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa is available now on DVD.
