New ‘Thor’ Trailer and Details

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

May 6th will be here before we know it, but until then we’ll have new trailers like this and movie toys to keep us busy. I may or may not show up to a midnight screening here in Indy sporting a helmet and foam hammer. Only time will tell.

The trailer has some new bits involving Frost Giants and a little more screen time for Loki. In related news, MTV sat down with Thor director Kenneth Branagh and he revealed some details on the Frost Giants and the Destroyer, the metal monster that’s seen reeking havoc in the trailers.

“The story involves a clash with an ice planet and the frost giants who live therein. They — as might be suggested by the name — are enormous creatures of incredible power who have been robbed of their power and glory by Odin, Thor’s father,” he continued. “What fuels a lot of this intense battle is revenge. This is an angry race, trying to get back at Thor and the Asgardians, the self-proclaimed guardians of the universe.”

Head over to MTV to read the rest.

X-Men: First Class Trailer Debuts

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

As anticipated, if a little late, today Fox released the first trailer for X-Men: First Class. This X-Men prequel is helmed by Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn and stars James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, and a whole bunch of people I’ve never heard of playing characters I’m not familiar with. We’ll be back with reactions later.

New Battle: Los Angeles Trailer Looks Surprisingly Awesome

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

March is an odd time for movies. Studios typically try to get films out that seem like big summer blockbusters, but don’t have big directors or as big of a built-in audience as a Harry Potter or superhero movie would. Maybe that’s why they chose March 11th to release Battle: Los Angeles. After seeing this new trailer, I’d say it looks like it could hold its own against anything next summer can throw at it, at least based on it’s visuals.

I’m excited about the premise of a Black Hawk Down styled Alien invasion movie. The cinematography in the trailer looks great, and I love how surprised everyone seems when the ‘meteors’ turn out to be invaders. I’d love an alien invasion movie that feels real.

Sadly, that’s probably why the ending to Battle: LA will be disappointing. I doubt it will have a terrible, depressing ending (which it should, based on the Alien tech in that trailer). Does that mean Battle: LA will be another alien invasion movie where the aliens miraculously die off, or do we just get lucky? Anyway, I guess if 98% of the movie is awesome, I can deal with a disappointing ending. I know not everyone is as morbid as me.

Seriously though, how can those aliens not win?

New Astro Boy Trailer

I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything Astro Boy related, but don’t count that against me. I’ll be among the first in line to see the second animated feature from Imagi, who brought us the decent TMNT movie in 2007. I can catch up on years of robot boy goodness after that.

Oh yeah, and Hot Toys is releasing an awesome Astroy Boy figure sometime soon, and I probably won’t be able to afford it.

New Trailer for TMNT In Time Reshelled

This looks like so much more fun than TMNT Smash Up. It comes out tomorrow, August 5th, on Xbox LIVE. Here’s an early review.

If anyone else will be playing this tomorrow, my gamertag is BlueAwesome.
