Second Trailer for ‘The Avengers’ Ups the Ante

Posted 8 years ago by Movies

I know every website on Earth will be posting this trailer today, but for good reason. The Avengers is one of the most heavily anticipated movies of the last few years, and this trailer shows a lot more character interaction and tension than any of the previous glimpses we’ve had. All the images we’ve seen have seemed very clean and composed, but this new look at the film shows that the team is actually going to have some conflict, as well as some formidable opponents.

Sure the ‘alien horde’ doesn’t get shown in a lot more detail but make sure to stick around to the very end of the trailer and you’ll see something very big. I love that we get more Hulk, and it still just boggles my mind that we’re actually going to see all these characters in one movie together. Let’s hope they do it justice. I know where I’ll be at midnight on May 4th.

If the YouTube embed goes away, you can find the trailer in HD over at Apple.

Marvel at This Week’s Two Awesome Trailers

Posted 8 years ago by Movies

It’s a good week to be a Marvel fan. A few hours ago the new trailer for Marc Webb’s reboot of Spider-Man debuted and it is pretty amazing indeed. I loved the first Spider-Man movie when it came out, but then again I was a sophomore in High School and I haven’t really watched them since that time. The Amazing Spider-Man looks like a Spider-Man movie I can get behind.

Andrew Garfield looks great as Peter Parker, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey will be a welcome break from whats-her-face playing MJ. The tone of the film looks great. Spidey cracks jokes and displays some impressive acrobatics, and the costume and tech look awesome. All in all, this is one of the top four movies I’m most excited about in 2012, along with…

New ‘Avengers’ Trailer Assembles the Awesome

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

It’s just a teaser—in the grandest sense of the word—but the new trailer for next year’s The Avengers movie has dropped. Perhaps the biggest highlight is the glimpse of this Hulk iteration. It’s too quick to make judgment but it certainly looks promising.

The whole Joss Whedon-directed film has a ton of promise, actually. These are all heroes we’ve come to know on the big screen in recent years. Rather than spending one-third of the film with exposition and origin stories, we can expect fistful after fistful of action.

Who wants to get in line now for the May 4 opening?

(Unintended hilarity for your third or fourth viewing of the trailer: at the 0:50 mark, pretend that’s a Scarlett Johansson fart leading to the explosion.)

It’s Time to Meet the Muppets (Trailer)

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

There’s a lot of movies for geeks to be excited about in 2011. Lots of superheroes are getting their first movies, the Harry Potter saga is coming to an end, and The Muppets are finally getting a new movie that looks like it’s at least trying to pay homage to the classic Muppets.

I haven’t posted any of the short viralish teasers that Disney’s released, partly because I’m trying to not repost things from other blogs as much, but mainly because I was waiting for the first full trailer.

I think it was worth the wait. The voices may not be the same, but it has that Muppet spirit. In case you’re still not convinced, here are some reasons why you should be excited:

  • Written by Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller
  • Directed by James Bobin, co-creator of Flight of the Conchords
  • Zach Galifianakis as a hobo
  • All the other cameos
  • Original songs by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords

What do you think? Are you going to line up with me to see it at midnight?

Captain America Trailer

Posted 9 years ago by Movies

After a whole day of being teases, Paramount and Marvel have finally released the full trailer for this summer’s ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and I’m totally stoked. Lets hope the script is solid and there’s plenty of ass-kicking after Cap gets his makeover. I don’t think that’s too much to ask, and if they can deliver on those two points with the style they’re showing in this trailer, we’re in for a swell time.

What do you think of the trailer? One gripe I have is that it looks like they went overboard with the skinny Steve. He looks like he’s about ten years old. Couldn’t he at least have been tall and skinny?

I'VE ABANDONED MY BLOG!

If you don't get this, we can't be friends anymore.

… we’re back! I was swamped with work but someone slapped me repeatedly, Daniel Plainview style, to make me realize I’d abandoned the blog. Well in the coming weeks we’ll be back in full force, with a couple new authors, an amazing new logo, and the official podcast, so hold tight.
