A New TMNT Fan Club? Yes Please

TMNT Fan Club

One of my big regrets in life is not joining the original TMNT Fan Club back in the day. This was the club that used Pizza Points as currency and got you some sweet swag for joining.

Well, I can stop crying because Nickelodeon has relaunched their TMNT Master Foot vs. Ninja thing that I didn’t really understand as the new TMNT Fan Club. You may not get a fancy swag bag for joining, but earning points through the system gets you chances to win cool prizes, so count me in.

One of the current prizes is pretty amazing too. Remember the Bebop & Rocksteady classic figures coming out soon? You could win the actual sample figures for those by earning enough points. I was going to say that I’ll probably never earn enough points to win anything, but then I noticed that Instagram integration is coming soon and I can earn points for participating in TMNT photo challenges and using the #TMNT hashtag. I practically do that every day now, so bring it on!

I just wish they’d bring back pizza points.

The League of Extraordinary Bloggers
This post is part of The League of Extraordinary Bloggers, a weekly series of blog posts started by Brian over at Cool and Collected. Make sure to check out his site and join in the conversation if you run a blog!

It’s been a while since I’ve participated in The League of Extraordinary Bloggers, but this week’s assignment was pretty fitting. Like the green challenge last year, this week all we had to do was post something blue, and one look at my Instagram page will tell you why I decided to join in.

I’m not very good at taking photos, and when it comes to Instagram I’m usually too lazy to break out my big-boy camera, so I try to make the best of the iPhone’s camera. A couple weeks ago I picked up a big blue poster board and made a cheap little backdrop, and I’ve been taking some photos on it, mainly of toys and stuff.

missinglinks

The Top Hat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

Galactus Lands In New LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trailer
The upcoming LEGO Marvel game looks ridiculously awesome and I can’t wait to get addicted to it. Sidenote: are any of you planning on getting the Xbox One or Playstation 4? At this point I’m not planning on it but chances are I’ll get one eventually. I have no clue which one will be/should be better though.

TMNT Season 2 Preview
It looks like season 2 of the new TMNT series is going to be awesome for us diehard Turtle fans. As I expected, Baxter Stockman is going to get a more 80s (read: Fly) makeover and Slash, Casey Jones, Wingnut, and other favorites are joining the show. Also, it sounds like the producers intend on bringing in Bebop and Rocksteady at some point, so that’s awesome.

Batman is a Hoarder!
Kerry Callen’s work is awesome, but this comic about Batman being a hoarder is my favorite.

Harvey Weinstein and Disney Reunite for ‘Artemis Fowl’ Adaptation
I remember reading the first book when it came out and I enjoyed it, but it’s been a decade or so. Regardless, it’s surprising it’s taken so long to get this movie released with all the YA books getting the movie treatment lately.

Let’s Talk About Season 1 of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

TMNT

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since Nickelodeon’s TMNT show debuted. As of a few days ago, the first season is over with a finale that included Roseanne as Kraang Prime and a pretty awesome Technodrome.

I’ve been loving the show, the new toys, the new merchandise, and pretty much everything in between. But I want to know what you all thought of the first season on the new show. We’re going to be recording a podcast about this very topic and I thought it would be cool to incorporate your opinions into the discussion.

Personally, I love what they’ve done with the new Turtles, and I’m really looking forward to more seasons. Season 2 sounds pretty exciting, with Casey Jones and Slash joining as recurring characters. I’m sure Nickelodeon has plenty more up their sleeves too.

So, let’s get a discussion going. What’d you like/dislike about this season?

Geek Eats: New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fruit Snacks

TMNT Fruit Snacks
Geek Eats

New TMNT Fruit Snacks! I don’t think anything has gotten me to drive around Indianapolis’ department and grocery stores in more of a frenzy lately than these have. I was so excited that Turtlemania 2.0 is at Licensed Food Product levels already that I had to have a bunch of boxes. Some to keep, some to eat, and some to send to friends. I’d seen them on Instagram and before I found them, Shawn over at Branded in the 80s found some at his local Wal-Mart, so I knew they were out there. I just couldn’t find any. Luckily I finally tracked some down today!

I’m way more excited about these than I should be. I mean, I like fruit snacks as much as the next guy, but it’s the idea that the Turtles are popular enough to warrant said fruit snacks that gets me pumped up. I keep hoping that before long we’ll get a new TMNT cereal, cookies, and maybe even some Crunchabungas. Ok, so probably not, but I can dream right?
