Missing Links

The Top Hat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

WTF: LucasFilm and Disney Combine To Create Star Wars ‘Cars’ Figures | /Film
WTF indeed, but these are actually kind of cool. And anything to get my totally-uninterested nephews into Star Wars.

See Concept Art from the Early ’80s ‘Silver Surfer’ Movie That Never Happened | Movie News | Movies.com
The Silver Surfer was almost the first Marvel movie ever. Interesting.

Vlog: TMNT Sewer Exploration Belt, from 1990. | Dinosaur Dracula!
I totally forgot about the Sewer Exploration Belt. I never had one, but it was on my radar. I opted to get the Turtle Communicator instead, but I love the less-known bits of TMNT merchandise.

‘The Office’ Closes After One More Season | /Film
The second half of last season was a disappointment to me, but the promise of going out with a bang will get me to tune in. I just hope they bring Michael Scott back for at least one episode.

Rumor: John Travolta Might Play ‘The Toxic Avenger’
Wait, what?

New TMNT Books Available on Amazon

New TMNT Books

The fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is about to become a hugely marketed property again is finally starting to sink in with me. Everyone loves the new action figures from Nickelodeon and Playmates, and what we’ve seen of the new cartoon looks promising, but I hadn’t even thought about all the other merchandise that is going to be hitting stores very soon.

I was trolling Amazon looking for new TMNT stuff today and found a ton of new kids books. Some are available now, and some say they will be released in January, but I bet they’ll become available a lot sooner than that. If me adding a bunch of coloring books, age 5 and up chapter books, and stickers to my cart isn’t evidence that I’m ready for Turtle Mania Volume II, I don’t know what is.

My wife and I don’t have any kids yet, but that might change in a couple years and that’s a good enough excuse for me to load up on kids TMNT books. Besides, the cover art looks pretty sweet, and who doesn’t enjoy coloring?

It’s cool hearing the cast of the new TMNT show get along so well, hopefully their chemistry comes through in the final product.

Will ‘Ant-Man’ Shoot Immediately Following ‘Thor: The Dark World?’ | /Film
I really hope so. The world needs an Edgar Wright super hero movie. Badly.

LEGO® CUUSOO | Exo Suit
Check out this badass LEGO Exo Suit that's up for voting on CUUSOO. I remember seeing this a while back and wishing I had the instructions to make one.

Marvel Phase Two: Where Does Hawkeye Fit In?
Where indeed. I hope he pops up in Captain America 2, and I'd love to see him and Black Widow get their own S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.

Trivia: Where Was The Joker In ‘The Dark Knight Rises?’ | /Film
I thought about this right after seeing TDKR. Where was the Joker during all the mayhem?

This week’s challenge from The League fit in nicely with TMNT Week. Things that are green? I’ve been seeing green all week.

I was going to do an elaborate group shot of all the Turtles I could find laying around my office, but I thought I would keep it simple and show off how awesome the new Nickelodeon Turtles look together. Four different shades of green, and four completely different sculpts. Well done Playmates.

2012 TMNT Action Figures: Raphael Photo Gallery

2012 TMNT Raphael Photo Gallery

Well, TMNT Week is finally over, and even though I have a few more things left to review, today is it for the Turtles’ new action figures. Next week I’ll post some reviews of Splinter, the bad guys, and the Shellraiser, but for now it’s time to give Raphael some attention.

Raphael is a lot of people’s favorite Turtle, and I’ve always liked him a lot. He’s not my number one, but he’s close. Raph is being voiced by Sean Astin of Goonies, Rudy, and Lord of the Rings fame in the new cartoon. That’s an interesting choice, but from what I’ve seen he sounds good.

Donatello is my favorite action figure from this new line, but Raph is a close second. I love his dark shade of green, and if he had a little bit more subdued expression on his face, he might be my favorite.
