NC Winters TMNT

NC Winters is a California-based artist and he just released this awesome set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle prints that are available for sale over at his website. I love having a lot of variation in style in my geek art collection, and NC’s prints would look great next to a lot of other TMNT geek art I’ve posted over the years.

He’s only selling 20 of each, so if you want to snag one you’ll have to keep an eye on his store. You can pick up Raphael, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Leonardo for $40 a piece, or $100 if you’d like it mounted to a birch panel and resined.

I’m going to need to get a bigger office, I’m running out of wall space!

Does LEGO Have the TMNT License?

LEGO TMNT

I try not to post a lot of wild speculation on the site or a lot of headlines with question marks at the end, but when it involves two of my favorite things possibly combining to form one perfectly awesome thing, I’ve gotta post it.

There are rumors on the interwebs that LEGO has the license for the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show and are releasing sets in 2013. Yes, LEGO TMNT could maybe become a thing.

I hope so. Mega Bloks’ license seemed to expire before Viacom bought the Turtles, and I’d love to see what LEGO could do. I would knock kids down to get to official LEGO TMNT sets.

The rumor originated on a French LEGO blog called Hoth Bricks that claims to have a reliable source. With Nickelodeon pushing the new show as much as they have been, and with their established relationship with LEGO, I could totally see this happening.

What do you think, would you buy LEGO TMNT sets?

Action Figure Cards: TMNT Super Shredder (1991)

Super Shredder Action Figure Card

Now that I finally updated my Mac to Mountain Lion and got my POS scanner working, I thought it would a perfect time to introduce a new series on the ‘squatch: Action Figure Cards. 80s and 90s packaging in general gets me super nostalgic, and that definitely goes double for action figures.

As you can probably guess, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures had my favorite card designs. The first one I grabbed off my stack is from one of my favorite TMNT villain figures: Super Shredder. Super Shredder briefly appeared in TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze after Regular-Type Shredder™ made a bad life decision and chugged a canister of ooze.

He looked badass in the movie and as a kid I lamented the fact that he only existed as Super Shredder for a couple of minutes. Luckily, they made him into an action figure.

About that Leaked TMNT Script…

Michael Bay's TMNT

When I got a Google+ notification the other day from Rob saying the troubled script for Michael Bay’s upcoming TMNT reboot had leaked, I knew I had to read it out of sheer morbid curiosity. Bay is just producing the movie, but his presence within a mile of my beloved Turtles is enough to turn me into a big, green, nostalgic rage monster.

For some reason, I had been staying optimistic about the movie, even when details leaked about the Turtles being aliens. In my head, I was willing to let their origin story change (slightly) if it meant getting a movie that had Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, and the Technodrome in it. I kind of want that to happen really bad.

So, I sat down with my wife’s iPad and a 119-page PDF of the script not knowing what to expect, and within two minutes I knew that if this script gets made it would be cinematic suicide for the Turtles franchise. It is literally the worst thing ever, you guys. Literally.
