Let’s Talk About This Crazy Life-Sized LEGO X-Wing

Posted 7 years ago by Stuff

I was going to just add this to the next Missing Links post, but I think it’s awesome enough to warrant it’s own. How crazy is this life-sized X-Wing model that LEGO unveiled today in Time’s Square?

The thing uses 5,335,200 LEGO bricks, which I’m sure would cost a pretty penny on Bricklink or eBay. LEGO is showing the model off today to promote The Yoda Chronicles, a new animated LEGO Star Wars show that premieres next Wednesday. In other news, there’s a LEGO Yoda show coming soon? Nobody tells me nothin.

Head over to Gizmodo to see a ton of awesome images, videos, and more details about this crazy LEGO model. What would you like to see LEGO make life-sized next? Personally I’d like to walk through a life-sized Millenium Falcon. Hey Internet, get on it!

Update: THS friend and blogger Amy Kraft got to check it out first hand, go read about it on Geek Mom!

Wookiee Tuxedo Episode 1 – Crazy Ewok Lady

Posted 7 years ago by Podcast

Happy Star Wars Day! There haven’t been a lot of podcasts around here for a while, but that’s going to change! Not only will Bubble Pipe Theater and Saturday Morning Central be starting back up soon, we’re also starting a brand new podcast dedicated to Star Wars called Wookiee Tuxedo. With Disney buying Lucasfilm and new movies in the works, there won’t be a shortage of things to talk about any time soon.

In the first episode, Tim and I talk about the future of Star Wars, Ewoks, Muppets, and why Wookiees don’t wear pants.

Cool Stuff: Limited Edition Star Wars iPhone 5 Cases from Firebox

Firebox iPhone Case

The world of iPhone cases is rarely exciting anymore, and the lack of originality in most of them (combined with my laziness) is why I always prefer a naked iPhone. These awesome new Star Wars cases from Firebox make finally make me use a case again though, because they are amazing.

They’re pricey at $30 a pop, but they’re crazy detailed and make your phone look like either R2-D2 (my favorite), C-3PO, Darth Vader, and even a fuzzy Chewbacca. I’m trying to decide which to order right now (Chewbacca is just up for pre-order), and I think I’ll pull the trigger on the R2-D2 version.

What do you think of these? Would you walk around with a C-3PO iPhone 5 case complete with exposed wires? If so let’s be friends.

The Top Hat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

The Strange Case of the Super Mario Bros. Movie – Grantland
Read this, it's probably the best piece ever written about the Super Mario Bros. movie.

BREAKING: Disney Shuts Down LucasArts; 150 Staffers Laid Off | Cartoon Brew
Well, that escalated quickly. Kind of sad to see this historic game company bite the dust, but then again, when's the last time they made a good game?

Will Arnett Joins ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ in Unknown Role | /Film
Damn it, it's going to be way harder for me to ignore this movie if Will Arnett is involved.

Original George Lucas Script ‘The Star Wars’ Gets Comic Adaptation | /Film
This sounds cool, but it would be cooler as an animated project.

Let’s Fix StarWars.com’s Character Tournment

StarWars.com Character Tournament

To capitalize on the March Madness that will grab college basketball fans this week, StarWars.com has introduced a similarly themed character tournament. The official site has paired 32 Star Wars  personalities in a Light Side vs. Dark Side showdown. Daily, starting on Monday, March 19, you can vote in head-to-head popularity contests. They call it “This Is Madness.” The individual battles lead up to the finale, set for voting on April 9.

Despite all their work, it’s really not that interesting. There is a mildly entertaining video with Darth Vader that pretty much anyone with a costume and a YouTube account could create. Paging Chad Vader. I’ve already turned in my bracket for the office pool betting that everyone’s favorite baddie Boba Fett takes home top prize. Ultimately, StarWars.com did something geeky but didn’t quite make it geeky enough.
