Toy Story 3 Blu-ray Review

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

Now that Tophat Sasquatch is officially in business (formerly Saturday Morning Central, if you’re new), I can finally start reviewing the Blu-rays and DVDs that have been piling up over the past few weeks. The one I am probably most excited about is Toy Story 3.

I’m a huge Pixar nut, and the Toy Story trilogy practically defines my life as a movie fan. I saw the first in 1995 when I was just ten, and instantly fell in love with Pixar’s ability to tell stories (and this fancy new CGI thing). Toy Story 2 came a few years later and was one of the first movies I took my first niece to see. I think TS2 surprised everyone.

Fast forward eleven years and the Toy Story characters are back on the screen for the third and final part of the trilogy, this time helmed by Lee Unkrich.

More Harry Potter Ultimate Editions Coming in October

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

Back in December you got to witness my descent into Harry Potter fanboyism thanks to the Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Edition Blu-rays I reviewed. Fast forward a few months and the wife and I are certifiable Harry Potter geeks, eagerly waiting for the last two movies to hit the screen and eventually our media center, to complete the collection.

The Ultimate Editions are pretty awesome, and actually worth the double (or triple) dip if you’ve already bought the films before. Now, Blu-ray.com is reporting that the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Goblet of Fire are coming out in Ultimate form on October 19th. Prisoner of Azkaban is our favorite of the series, so I’m pretty pumped.

They will continue the Creating the World of Harry Potter documentary by adding Part 3: Creatures and Part 4: Sound & Music, which both should be very interesting. Each one will come in a sturdy box filled with collectible cards, photo books, and more.

Wow, it’s about time. I just got an announcement in my inbox this morning that Universal is going to be releasing the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Trilogy of the Back to the Future films on October 26th. Here’s a breakdown of the new features exclusive to the Blu-ray, from the press release:

Horton Hears a Who! Blu-ray Review

Horton Hears A Who Blu-ray

Woo-hoo, more classic animation on Blu-ray! You’ll hear me screaming from the rooftops that we need more classic animation on Blu-ray (in fact, I’m working on a whole site on the subject), so I welcome all new releases. Even if Horton Hears a Who! isn’t my favorite Dr. Seuss story, it’s fun to have in High Definition.

Horton

This is a Seuss cartoon that I haven’t seen near as much as I’ve seen the Grinch or the Cat in the Hat. In fact, I’ve probably seen the 2008 film more times than I’ve actually seen this, and I hate to say it, but I think I like the 2008 film better.
