Missing Links for Dec. 6th, 2010

Posted 9 years ago by Missing Links

The Tophat Sasquatch team reads a lot of blog posts every day, and some slip through the crack or just don’t warrant their own post. That’s where Missing Links comes in. Every few days we collect the best links we’ve come across and pass them on to you.

Dr. Seuss’ Star Wars
This is pretty awesome. Star Wars if it was written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Story Revealed? Is it ‘Prey’ with Dr. Hugo Strange?
I haven’t read Prey, and I’m not sure this would be the best way to end the trilogy, but I’m sure Nolan knows best.

A is for Ackbar
Brandon Peat illustrates the alphabet with Star Wars characters, and has actually made them into nice-looking books.

TRON: Legacy – Low Rez Trailer
In the vein of Sweded trailers ala Be Kind Rewind, the guys at Gamervision have created a low-rez version of the Tron Legacy trailer, in 3D no less. Impressive.

Batman Brave and the Bold DVD Review

Posted 10 years ago by Television

Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a show I’ve been waiting a long time to watch. We don’t get any TV channels or watch any new television at our house (by choice), but every once in a while a show catches our attention and we rely on DVD to check it out. Being a proud member of the geek community, I’d been hearing a lot about Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Unfortunately as it is with most children’s TV shows, the DVD releases are numerous and don’t contain very many episodes. This was and is the case with Batman, because rather than releasing a full season one set, WB has divided the season and released Season One, Volume One. It’s the first 13 episodes on 2 discs when it could have easily been the entire first season.

Nothing beats perfect timing. I’ve been making my way through the Batman: The Animated Series set lately and feeling the urge to watch Batman Beyond again. I loved the show growing up, and my wife has never seen it. I was about to start buying the seasons, but on November 23rd, WB is going to release a spiffy complete series set.

Batman Under the Red Hood Blu-ray Review

Posted 10 years ago by Movies

The DC Animated Universe movies are getting better. Green Lantern: First Flight was OK. Superman/Batman Public Enemies and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths were better than I thought they were going to be. Batman Under the Red Hood held my attention through two viewings in the course of a few days, and so far is my personal favorite.

That really surprises me seeing as how much I love the Kenvin Conroy/Mark Hamill animated Batverse that started in my childhood and has continued up through the Arkham Asylum game. Under the Red Hood feels like a self-contained Batman story though, and can get by with a new voice cast.

Super Friends Season One Volume Two [Rapid Review]

Posted 10 years ago by Television

Heads up Super Friends fans, Season One Volume Two is out on DVD featuring eight more episodes of the original 1973 cartoon. Since this show was before my time, I wasn’t aware there had been so many different versions of it throughout the years, from The All-New Super Friends Hour to the Challenge of the Super Friends (and even some lost episodes). This DVD set continues the original series where the Season One Volume One set left off.
