‘Officially Limited’: A Documentary About the Collectible Poster Scene

Posted 7 years ago by Movies

If you read this site, you know I love geek art. I’m in the middle of redecorating my home office, and I literally have stacks of posters and prints framed and ready to hang. Most of the art I have wasn’t hard to get, but having bought one poster from Mondo directly and one after the fact on eBay, I understand how frustrating it can be to get limited edition art. This upcoming documentary by John Otterbacher is about the new and somewhat controversial nature of poster collecting, and it looks great.

He talks to folks from Mondo, Gallery 1988, and more about the recent phenomenon of super-limited edition posters by great artists. The documentary is up on Kickstarter-like IndieGoGo right now, and has a way to go to reach it’s goal.

As I finally get my office in order I’m going to posting a lot more about the art that I have and inviting you all to share your geek art collections (and maybe turn it into a contest of some sort), but in the meantime I can’t wait to see this documentary.

Wreck-it Ralph

Heads up geeks, Disney just announced that their awesome animated tribute to video games Wreck-it Ralph will be out on Blu-ray on February 12th. That’s not as soon as, say, tomorrow, but it’s not that far away either.

This movie will be great to own, rewatch, and pause to see all the cameos that we didn’t catch in the theater. As for bonus features, you can expect:

That LEGO Back to the Future Set is Totally Happening You Guys

As if it wasn’t hard enough to find the LEGO Minecraft set that was released through their Kickstarter-like CUUSOO site, LEGO has just announced the next project that’s getting the really-for-real treatment is this awesome Back to the Future Delorean.

It’ll probably take forever for this to come out, but you know they’re going to sell out like crazy. I was really hoping they would make the Modular Western Town, but apparently they have a new Western theme of their own brewing and they felt it would conflict.

What do you think, will you be picking this one up?

LEGO Shellraiser Street Chase Available on Amazon Prime

Reports have been coming in about the TMNT LEGO sets popping up in Toys R Us stores, but I haven’t seen any yet. Luckily, Amazon is starting to get them in stock. Right now, the Shellraiser Street Chase set is available directly from Amazon for $60. That’s good news for Prime members, the box of bricks could be at your house as early as tomorrow.

If my wife read the site I would hint heavily that this is my favorite of the TMNT LEGO sets and that it would be a perfect Christmas gift. Sigh.
