SDCC Roundup: Comic Book Movie Edition

SDCC

Going on vacation during the biggest week for Geek news is kind of overwhelming. I came back from a fun-filled day at Disney World to an RSS Reader full of news stories. Since I don’t have the time to write about all of them in-depth, I’m going to be posting SDCC roundups a few times this week. Today’s edition is all about comic book movies, and there’s a lot of news.

Batman/Superman

I wasn’t expecting this announcement, but I welcome it. I loved Man of Steel, but I totally understand the beefs a lot of people had with it. Well, what better way to at least address those beefs than by bringing in a pissed-off Batman to beat the crap of Superman for what he did to Metropolis? Zack Snyder announced that the sequel to Man of Steel is going to be a Batman/Superman team-up movie inspired by The Dark Knight Returns. I assume the only inspiration from that graphic novel will be the Superman/Batman conflict, but still, it’s pretty cool news. Batman and Superman will be on the big screen together for the first time in just a couple years. [/Film]

Honorable Mention: Sounds like a Flash movie and the inevitable Justice League movie could be coming too.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel also had their fair share of announcements, and the big one is that the sequel to The Avengers will feature Ultron as the villain. It sounds like Ultron will be a Tony Stark creation rather than an Ant-man one, and for the Cinematic Universe, I’d say that makes sense. [/Film]

Honorable Mention: Tom Hiddleston showed up at the Marvel panel as Loki. Awesome.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Not a ton of news here, but they released some cool concept art, had some props on display, and announced that Thanos will be in the movie. Still very excited for this one.

Stay tuned for the next edition that will cover toys and games!
